My doctor just put me on metformin and spironolactone to try to help me (before trying anything more extreme) I started like 2 weeks ago and Sunday I started spotting... just a tiny bit and it was light pink... but I noticed it once then it went away, and every day since then the same thing, notice it one time a day then it goes away. Hi Channy,
The metformin can make some people ovulate on their own which would bring about a period, but it's hard to say if that's why you're spotting. The spironolactone is more for hirsutism management; sometimes it's used as a blood pressure med since it's also a mild diuretic. I'm not sure it would have a big impact on your period, though you could check with your doctor or pharmacist on that one. Good luck!
