It’s not a dumb question. The answer is probably not going to help you much. People use different explanations for the terms, some use them interchangeably for early miscarriages. When going through IVF you are given hormones that would be present in your body if you were PG on your own, sometimes the test pick up those levels but you are not PG, I would conceder that a chemical pregnancy. Sometimes the drugs sustain a non viable embryo longer than it would have on its own, that can be considered a chemical pregnancy.
IMO both are losses so call it whatever feels right to you.
