Let the wailing and gnashing of teeth begin…

Alas, the BFP will have to wait for another cycle. I received the news early this morning, but I could tell last night that AF was lurking just around the corner, waiting for Progesterone and Estradiol to vacate the premises before she came a-knockin’. Indeed, I’m already spotting. And that zen feeling I had had for the last two weeks? Gone. Replaced with a lot of tears and self-recriminations about waiting too long to try, brought on perhaps by learning yesterday that one of my closest colleagues at work, the one who swore up and down that she wasn’t going to get pregnant any time soon…yeah, knocked up. And our new administrator? Ditto. That just made me think back to the end of the school year when we all celebrated the April birth of another colleague’s second child, and the impending births by two other co-workers and the wife of another co-worker (with twins!), all due in October. I don’t know. Is it something in the water??? If so, give me a tanker full!

DP and I cried together and cuddled our little fur-baby, who came to see what all the commotion was about. Once AF is truly settled in, likely by tomorrow, I’ll call my RE’s office and make the appointment for the “Where do we go from here?” talk. DP and I have already agreed that we’d like to try at least one more cycle, but I have no sense of what RE will think of that. We’ve toyed with the idea of IVF, but so much will depend on 1) whether we can get the financing (our only real asset is our home, but with plummeting home values, it’s iffy), and 2) whether RE is willing to continue this journey with us.

Question: What makes one a good candidate for IVF with her own eggs? I know that I haven’t produced more than 5 antral follies (Taka, you are my follie heroine!), though my last FSH was pretty good (5.4 back in March) and so were all the other tests run. I have a feeling that these next two days, waiting for AF and to see RE, is going to be worse than my last 2ww! Any thoughts you may have would be appreciated.

Taka, I hope you’re feeling better and that the new bcp works better. Good luck!

Marilynn, that super-O leads to BFP!

J-Lynn, I like your idea of using this time to reign in the weight gain. I’ve gained about 10lbs. myself. You've inspired me! And I second Marilynn--Good luck with DE route.
