Hi all!
MzVee, congrats on some great follies...grow little guys grow!
Jen, yay!!!!!!!!!!!! I think your follies sound great! Your doc is just being a nervous nellie. Just so you know 20% of all live births with IUI/Meds are twins. Only 1% are higher order multipes... given your age, number of attempts, etc the chance of IUI working at all each try is probably close to 10% then the 25% they give the ladies under 30. So don't fret. You have like a .1% chance of triplets. It's still a chance and the thing with statistics is they are just that...averages...and some women are on either end of the bell curve, but like you said, with this being #9 it's worth the risk.
I know how you must feel cuz multiples scare the piss out of me. I know I wouldn't be able to do a selective reduction.
I think that you'll be fine at 40 hours... the literature says to give the IUI 24-48 hours after the trigger, so that's why most docs average it to 36. I think you'll be fine at 40... if you O at 24, that still gives enough window of opportunity for the sperm to get to the egg, and if you O at 48 hours the sperm will be there waiting and still be alive and kicking. Plus, with three eggos in there, they may not all blow at once, so I think 40 hours is a good timing. Trust the doc. He's prolly done hundreds of these and probably goes on instinct with the timing.
As to the HCG trigger, listen to Deej...I've had to give SQ shots and they're not bad. They don't hurt as much as the ones in the muscle. If you let the trigger get warm to room temp it will hurt less, or you can ice pack your tummy before you do it to numb it up. The needle part is probably less painful then putting the med in. Just poke it quick...you can even do it with eyes closed if you aim ahead of time and don't do any wild gestures when poking...I have a hard time poking myself too. Pushing the meds in isn't hard for me in terms of the pain because the psychologically tough bit of poking myself is over. It burns though. Just do it slowly and worst is it will burn a little like a bee sting.
Good luck!!! I'm so excited for you! I think the 3 sound very very promising that one of them will stick and make a baby...I am sending you lots of

!
Hugs!
