Amy, when my mom was pregnant with my sister, she developed a craving for ice. I mean she had to have a huge cup of ice with her at all times. This was before the handy crushed ice dispensers in the door so she was like a mad lady with the ice-pick. After she had my sister, it did not go away. I had heard about the ice/iron thing and mentioned it to her. They ran her numbers and put her on iron supplements. Still, when I went home, the cup of ice was still there (the ice chomping was drivings me nutty) When she went back to her doctor, they found out her levels were so low, they threatened her with a blood transfusion. That's when she got serious about taking her Rx iron supplements, her numbers returned to normal and I am happy to report the ice cup and ice-pick (thank God) are all put away.
Okay, so that was a long story...mainly to say..yes, it is true, so have your numbers checked.
