Getting pregnant while overweight is definitely not impossible. And being overweight while pregnant is not necessarily detrimental to your baby.

I have both PCOS and hypothyroid and have been able to get pregnant twice despite being pretty overweight.

Since I started taking Metformin (1500mg) I've been able to drop about 25lb just by being more aware of what I'm eating and making some easy substitutions (like whole grain bread instead of white, or the 100-calorie packs for snacks instead of a piece of chocolate). I know I should, but I am just not motivated to exercise. I am also currently on 100mcg of Synthroid, but was only at 75mcg before getting pregnant.

With my first pregnancy, unfortuntely ectopic, I took 100mg of Clomid on CD 3-7 and was monitored with ultrasounds to check my follicle growth and bloodword to check my hormone levels. With this current pregnancy, I took the same Clomid dosage on the same days, then 75iu of Follistim CD 8-12, 50iu CD 13, and then a trigger shot on CD 14. I had the same monitoring as before. I got my first positive hpt on CD 26.

At one point my doctor suggested taking some time off to lose weight but I just couldn't. I knew how long it would take me to get down to a "normal" weight and there was no way I was going to wait that long to have a baby. So far, my weight hasn't impacted my pregnancy one bit and I don't regret for one second not taking time off.
