I brought my DH to my HSG exam on Jan 2nd. He couldn't stay in the room because they use the x-ray equipment on you. Then my mom, whose a radiology tech, said you could've asked for them to put one of those lead/iron blankets over him. So that's just a thought if you do want your DH with you. It's not that traumatic, though. They shoot the dye up your fallopian tubes and it's a little painful (make sure to take Tylenol or ibuprofin before your appointment). Then the cramps lasted for a couple of hours afterwards.

The HSG cost about $1000 and my husband's insurance actually covered $600, which we weren't expecting. Must've been the way they coded it with lab work, exam, etc. I did start a health savings account through my employer this year to cover some of the expenses, though.

Good luck in your journey, and I'm in the same boat. Started my first round of Clomid in February and I ovulated on day 18 but started my period on day 27! So there wasn't enough time for everything to stick, I don't think. I'm on day 13 of my second cycle with Clomid and I'm hoping it works this time.
