Hello Everyone,

I have been thinking of donating sperm. There is a fertility clinic rather close to my university and at the start of my courses in the fall I might make a commitment to them.
I live in Canada so I wont be receiving any funds for my assistance, and nor would I wish it. I feel bad enough that people would need to pay to even look at my pictures and receive my information, though I suppose this is how clinics pay for their operations.
I believe I am willing to make this commitment, which will require blood tests and abstaining from ejaculating according to a schedule (luckily my girlfriend will be in the States during this so she wouldn’t be overly effected by such a schedule) for at the very least 6 months.
However, there is an issue that give me pause when I consider donating, and this is the reason for my post. I have a condition which is fairly poorly understood and I am not sure my donation would be accepted.
The conditions symptoms are strong upper body twitches several times a day and strong electric like sensation flowing through my body. The second symptom is always alongside the twitch, but is also very often felt on its own. I have seen several doctors with the desire of finding a cause, but have yet to have any clear results.
I’ve had MRIs, EEGs, blood tests and so forth, and have been unable to find any anomalies. I’ve spoken to a group of psychiatrists and their best bet is pseudo seizures, which are a mental response to emotional trauma experienced in childhood. Through my own research I don’t think the diagnosis is likely, but it is the best one I have received.
Despite the plethora of tests I have undergone I am actually not seeking a cure of any sort for this condition. I find it actually enriches my life as the electric sensation is rather blissful. I suppose one could say I am addicted to the rush of it. These tests have been conducted to assure myself that my life is not being put at risk by this condition, and to satisfy my general curiosity.
All this rambling brings me to the question I have come here to ask. Would you think a fertility clinic would turn me away due to this condition, and if you personally found a DS which filled all your requirements but had this condition would you eschew them?
I intend to have a family eventually, and this condition does not overly worry me, but I understand only a small percentage of donors are accepted by clinics (rough 10% of applicants).
