I got pregnant with #1 when we weren't trying, and figured the second time around would be the same. Our son is now 10, and we're finally pregnant with #2. I worked with my regular OB/GYN for a few months with Clomid, but thankfully went on to a specialist, and it was a world or difference. Don't fuss around with your regular OB for long. The specialist does so much more testing and really has a good idea of what's going on, and you will, too. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache and time. If you decide to wait until the one year mark, that's your choice. If you do, I would start taking ovulation tests every month to try to determine if/when you're ovulating. If you are on your own, maybe you won't need to go on and you'll be pregnant on your own! If you don't ovulate, or don't ovulate regularly, that's a good thing to know.
Also, it would be good to find out about some of the specialists in your area. Ask around if you know anyone who's done infertility. You want someone who's good. You also want someone who's close. You'll be going to that office A LOT.
Good luck!
