That was my experience, too. After a m/c and a chemical pregnancy, I was so pessimistic that I never enjoyed the first part of my pregnancy. I kept waiting for the bad news I was so sure to come. It ended up being wasted worry since I have a super-healthy baby. But given all that we go through to get pregnant and our disappointments along the way, I think it's natural to not allow our hopes to get too high. Having said that, your numbers look awesome.

As for a 5 week u/s, that may be too early to see any heartbeat at all, which would be NORMAL! They may see a flickering fetal pole, but I don't think they will measure the heart rate at this point. I certainly don't recall getting heartbeat numbers that early.
