We started ttc 6 mos after getting off BC. 16 mos later, we did our fert testing. As soon as we got our first SA results (no swimmers), I mentally checked out and started researching adoption. I had no intention of doing ivf. Meanwhile, dh continued with several other apts to try to figure out what the prob was.

We have been pursuing independent adoption for 15 months now, with 2 failed matches. We've been licensed foster parents for 2 months (no placements yet), and we're trying to get licensed with our adjacent county as well.

I thought I had made my peace with the whole "no for me" business, but then I thought I had implantation bleeding, and started to wonder if that's why we hadn't been successful in adopting yet.

As we wait for our RE apt next Monday, I finally read dh's medical records and found out that my initial reaction was correct. It would appear that our only chance of a bio baby is ivf.

I don't want to leave any stone unturned, so I'm researching it. Not comfortable with the financial risk, the invasiveness.

If we don't hear anything on the foster care route by the end of this year, we're signing with an agency for a domestic infant adoption (hoping for a Hisp or multiracial booboo).

I'm so glad to hear stories of those of you who have adopted and then went back to consider fert. I'm also considering embryo adoption and not sure where we'll get our baby, but I know God is calling me to be a mother and dh to be a father, we're just not sure how and when!
