Hi Kate,
I'm also 28 and have been without a period for about a year and a half. Totally unexplained. I don't have PCOS and went for an MRI which was also normal. My estrogen and progesterone levels are very low. My RE had me do two rounds of provera to try to get a period, but no luck. He then told me to gain about 10 pounds and "see what happens." This seemed like an odd request to me, but, I obliged and put on 10 pounds in a few months (it was fun actually!) I'm about a normal weight but he was worried that my BMI was too low which may prevent me from ovulating. But now, with a BMI of 21.5 (I'm 5'8 and 138 pounds) I still don't have a period and my estrogen and progesterone levels are still really low.
So, now we're undergoing our first round of IUI. Not too sure what to expect but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I did a little over one week of menopur injections and then did the trigger shot followed by IUI. Now I'm just playing the waiting game (I go for my pregnancy blood test one week from today).
Do you have a low body weight? Has your doc prescribed provera to try to bring on a period? Is your prolactin level normal?
hang in there!
