Question Question about OBGYN/RE!

I was browsing thru the fourms and found a few posts about how some didn't get very far with their OBGYN and went to an RE.
I am currently going thru my OB right now and wondering that if these few rounds of Clomid don't work how long should I stay with her untill asking for an RE refferal? I really don't want to waist my time if she's not doing the right thing for me and going to make my journey longer than it has to be!

Thanks!

Honestly, unless your OB has studied infertility in depth like an RE, I would go to a RE sooner than later. I think that the "let's try clomid" 86 times is detrimental to the whole process - adding more cycles than necessary, exposing you to clomid repeatedly, etc.

I think that OB can ordered some tests to try to get the initial diagnosis but your better off with an expert.

I have a gf who did like 9 cycles with clomid and her OB, then come to find out she had a genetic issues from her RE that would never have been overcome with clomid. She got pg with one IVF cycle.

I skipped the OB part and went straight to RE due to PCOS. To me, I wasn't willing to waste time.
It's a very personal decision, you have to do what you feel most comfortable with.
Best of luck to you!

From my own experience, I would recommend making an appointment with an RE if you do not get pregnant after a few rounds of Clomid. They will say you need to have tried for a year at your age, so not sure where you fall in that timeframe.

Granted, I am much older than you, however, my OB seemed to think that there was no reason I shouldn't get pregnant. Mind you, I had just turned 38, at that appointment she said "I think you are rushing things to see an RE". I am sooooooo glad I did not listen. I got the appt within 6 weeks, and right away I was diagnosed with fibroids, and had a whole treatment plan including a lap surgery that also discovered endo. The fibroid/endo were blocking things. I NEVER would have gotten pregnant if I just kept trying on my own. If I was even 30, he would have just said go home and try on your own for 6 mos after the surgery, but we did IUI because of my age.

The bottom line is, your OB cannot diagnose things like endo or fibroids accurately, and not sure if you had any bloodwork to check your FSH/TSH levels, but these are all things that need to be ruled out.

Wishing you lots of baby dust!!!

Thank you all so much for your input! I will def do the three rounds of Clomid and then look into an RE! I had all blood tests done and everything came back normal even with my u/s just alot of follies which diagnosed me with PCOS and one blood test i think it was prolactin? And Everything with DH is great, we were very relieved to hear that! I think i might have to poas again.. did one yesterday and it was a ... but seeing as how i just randomly got sick.. which NEVER happens... might do it again *lol* Will let you know how that one turns out!
