My 2 Cents...

Here are my thoughts...

Anyone trying over 12 months with no pregnancy should seek the help of a fertility specialist. An ob/gyn only knows so much- and in my four years experience - its not a whole lot.

They will be able to rule out many things and help pinpoint your specific problem- sometimes its a hormone imbalance, the need for asprin, or it could even be a problem with your husband or boyfriend.

Good luck- and I hope you get the answers to your questions. Don't let some doc dismiss you!

I suggest you get another opinion! You are in the age "window" for your MOST fertile years......2 years is a long time for someone your age.

Good Luck!

OH, and by-the-way, we have been in and out of fertility doctor's offices with no luck! If a ferility doctor is in your mind, PLEASE research and ask questions like-how many times will I have to go through with a treatment? We were told IVF is the only answer - with NO luck. After the fact, I spoke with several women and researched on these sites and it appears most women do not have successful first attempts. Everytime you "screw" with your body via fertility Dr. you are risking your own health for the future!! Please consider this from someone who has been there.

Again, Good Luck!

Have you had a infertility work-up yet?

I'm sure your regular gynecologist has the best intentions but then again, we're talking about your life and your timeline. If you're planning on having more than one child, you may not want to wait two years just to get pregnant and miscarriages do happen. BTW, sorry you had to go through that, my heart's out to you.

Given that a normally fertile couple has a 75 to 85% culmulative chance of getting pregnant in one year, there's a chance somethings going on with you.

Check to see what your insurance covers - many people's coverage inludes infertility testing so you can at least find out what's going on.

Also - I don't want to come across condescending but make sure you understand when the most fertile time to have sex is. I swear I had no idea when I first tried to get pregnant. It was like all of that sex ed you sit through in school went out of my brain (well, at least all of the academic parts of it)...

Good Luck!

I'd just like to elaborate on what someone else said. I assumed my ob/gyn was the best source of information, and that cost me about 18 months. I've come to the conclusion that she sees so many couples who concieve easily, she has no clue what infertility is like. After two years, it's definitely time to go to a specialist.
