Amy- You should read Toni Weschler's Taking Charge of our Fertility as it will help you know when you ovulate and figure out what your problem may be. Also it would be ideal to see a reproductive endocrinologist rather than a regular doctor or OB/GYN. Good luck!

thanks slobin, i will look into that book. i just finished reading The Conception Chronicles, which was written by 3 women who all had problems ttc. i recomend this book as well. it sheds some light on the situation, makes you laugh, cry and feel like you have just talked to your best girlfriends.

hi, i have also been ttc for about 10 months and my cycles are really irregular. they range from 34-40 days and i don't ovualte until day 23-25. my RE told me that i have luteal phase defect and the only thing that would help is to start taking medications such as clomid etc. At first i didn't want to go with drugs however my cycles just kept getting longer and longer. i also recommend the book taking charge of your fertility, i read it and it is very helpful however i realized that nothing can regulate my cycles besides the medicine. So I went back to the RE and he put me on letrozole/femara and i am on my second day of it. so far, so good...no side effects. i am crossing my fingers! Good luck!!!!

Irregular cycles
Acupunture and herbs are an excellent way to regulate your cycles and promote fertility. If you're having irregular cycles you probably have an underlying hormonal imbalance and Chinese medicine is an effective way to bring the hormones into balance.
I was doing acupuncture regularly when I got pregnant (but miscarried) and I think it has helped my cycles. Has anyone else used Chinese medicine? Have you noticed changes in your cycles? |

I just started accupuncture. It doesn't hurt at all. I guess we shall see if it helps! |

thanks for asking, that means a lot. well, my gyno put me on clomid, suprise, suprise. i finished the first round and am now just waiting. if it doesn't work she said she wants to do one more round, then on to plan b. plan b scares me, so i am trying not to focus on that and just pray that things work this month. i had pretty bad side effects from the clomid, so i just don't want to do it again. then again, i would do anyting if iknew it would get me pregnant! thanks for asking. how are things with you?amy |

I also did accupuncture and it didn't hurt....it did not work for conception naturally, however I did conceive with IUI while undergoing treatments (went on to MC at 9 weeks).
Make sure to really interview your doctor!!! We felt so helpless and vunerable when we first met with an infertility specialist that we jumped at his first plan of action. We have three failied IUI with him (2 PG that ended up MC, one that did not conceive). We now have a new doc that has done extensive testing. I am appalled that our former doc basically did not test at all before recommending IUI!! Hang in there! |

Hi Amy! Glad to hear your doctors are doing SOMETHING! My doctor made me wait a YEAR before even starting to think something was wrong! I wish you luck with the clomid! I know many many people who had great success with it the first month!
I hear ya on the nasty hormonal side effects. Thats the messed up thing about the infertility drugs..they make you feel pregnant. Thats the part I hated the worst. Keep us updated!
