Well my saga continues....
I have had IF and 2 m/cs for just over two years now. I found out a while back that I have subclinical hypothryoidsim and I tested positive for thyroid antibodies (ATAs). This means I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. So I began doing tons of research and found out that women who have thyroid antibodies are at a much higher risk for IF and m/c not because of the ATAs themselves but because ATAs are often a marker for underlying immune issues such as elevated levels of NK (natural killer) cells and other immune problems that cause IF and m/c. So I had a full immune panel done with Dr. Alan Beer in Los Gatos (highly recommend him- his website is
www.repro-med.net) and sure enough I tested positive for elevated NK cells among other immune problems. So now I'm beginning treatment with him.
I really encourage anyone with thyroid problems to be tested for thryoid antibodies (demand it!) because your doctor will not offer this. REs (and OB/GYNs) are very ignorant about immune infertility problems and will not test this on their own. So be proactive if you have thyroid problems!
I was wondering has anyone else here has had an immune workup?
Has anyone else been diagnosed with elevated NK cells?
Thanks for any feedback-- I would love to connect with others who may be going through this.
