when to test?

hi everyone. as many of you have read i went through my first round of clomid this month. i am just wondering when it is okay to take a pg test. i have read so many different things and i wanted to see what you all have heard. i ovulated on day 15 and right now i am on day 25. i was told by my dr. that i should test on day 35 but now i am hearing that you can take a test about 10-12 days after ovulation. thanks~

hey everyone,

this is my first time posting in this chat room.. or any chat room for that matter. I decided it was time to find people that are going through some of the same things that I am struggling with.

I am 28 and trying for my first baby. Been trying for 8 months now and I am on my first round of clomid. My cycle was a mess after being regular my entire life before the pill and my fertility specialists says that because nothing else is wrong I likely have PCOS.

I didn't ovulate until day 22 and I am now close to the end of my tww. Getting really nervous and trying not to get my hopes up. Promised myself I wouldn't take a pregnancy test cause I don't want to see another negative.. would rather wait until I get my period. But we'll see if I can restrain myself.

In response to your question.. I've also heard that with the more sensitive tests like 1st response you can test before the first day of a missed period.

Amy,

In my opinion even though technically some of the more sensitive tests can pick up pgs earlier than 14 days after you're better off the wait the 14 days because there is a high false negative rate when testing early. No need to wait until day 35 though. Also if you had a later than average implantation it wouldn't register early. For me seeing a negative is so traumatic I always wait because I don't want to risk a false negative and also I don't want to have to think "well what if it's still too early" and then get my hopes up only to be crushed. But everyone is different. Good luck.
