We've made our decision

After discussing with my husband the events of the last week we've come to a decision. We are going to end fertility treatments and move on to starting the adoption process.

We prayed on a daily basis that God's hands be with us as we went through our IVF cycle. We felt confident that things would happen according to His will for our lives. Our IVF cycle didn't make it to completion after our embryos arrested and started to degenerate prior to the day of transfer. We feel like continuing to pursue testing and treatment after praying for answers would just be selfish on our part. I know not everyone will agree but this is how we feel. We do both feel very strongly (DH just recently) that adoption is the answer for us. It's a gift that we can give to a child and a life that we can have as a family just the same.

We have some work to do on our home and a lot of research to do to determine whether we want an open or closed adoption, public or private sector, etc. So this isn't something that will take place tomorrow or maybe even within the year but we are going to begin the process as soon as we can.

I want to thank everyone for their support, their kind words of encouragement and all their thoughts and prayers. You ladies have meant the world to me during this process, I just wish I'd found you two years before when we began the process. I wish you all the best of luck and much success!

I know that it is a hard decision. If IVF doesn't work for us we will be going towards that step as well. Good luck and please keep us posted with your news. You guys will make great parents and somewhere out there he is creating a child just for you. That is what I think!!

Jen, you and your DH are two amazingly strong, beautiful and unselfish individuals. If only everyone were as devoted to the idea of becoming parents -- in any way possible -- as you two are. I think you are making a wonderful decision. The decision to adopt will bless you tenfold, I'm sure. No baby will be more properly spoiled and loved than the one that finds its way to your loving arms. I hope this journey to adoption is quick and that you can post happy news about your little bundle of joy really soon. I love you, sweetie.

Thanks everyone, it means so much to have such love! I've ordered a couple books from Amazon and we've got some work to do on the house still. It's not an overnight decision but it's one we want to prepare for. When the time is right I'm sure it will all fall into place as it should.
We did however reopen the discussion about the karyotype testing and I am scheduling that today. This will hopefully give us an answer and maybe that answer will provide the needed closure to move on without always wondering "why" or "what if."
As far as this forum is concerned, I'm not going anywhere!

Jen,
I know this was not an easy decision to make, but I know some child(ren) will be blessed to have the two of you as parents.
