Hello Everyone I am a newbie here and I was hoping I could get some advice. This is a long story so please bear with me!

DH and I got married November 11th. Went of BCP December. Had regular on time cycles Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May. Went to first pre conception consultation on June 1st and doctor said just BD like crazy. I charted in May and my temps were waaaay down post O but then I realized that they were also erratic and no O was detected. I kept taking them until I got tired of not finding a pattern. On top of that...I missed cycle in June & July with 4 negative HPT's. I am on day 69 of no AF. Called doctor and they said they can't do any testing besides for pregnancy or menopause.

BUT...I thought hormone testing was an option if you suspect that your hormone levels may be low. I know that in a way I am self diagnosing but it just didn't sound right that the doctors said they can't draw blood to test hormones. Aside from the missed period I have also had uncontrollable depression, mood swings, irratibility, and low low sex drive. The nurse said to just relax and it will usually come.

Does this sound right to you ladies? I mean I have ALWAYS had regular cycles and this is VERY abnormal for me. Should I opt for a second opinion? Any advice or similiar stories would be appreciated.

you do need a second opinion... i don't think hormone testing will do any good right now... your Dr can put you on meds to bring on your period and once it comes, they should do b/w to check where you stand.

Telling you to relax and it will happen is WRONG. You should get a second opinion and see if there is something wrong. They can give you meds to start your period and then monitor you to see if you actually ovuating.

See my whole thing is that the doctor says they are looking for a pattern ie:to see if this keeps happening. But if my period doesn't come then how exactly ARE they going to look for a pattern. Also, do these months count in the whole ttc for a year deal? Nurse says they really want me to keep waiting and they would maybe give me something if AF doesn't come after the 90 day mark but that they don't really want to go there. Sheesh!

I would go for a second opinion!! I think that him or her telling you to just relax and wait is just a lazy dr....my goodness that drives me insane, especially when you know your body!!! because they can give you provera, or other medication to bring down AF, yes please get a second opinon if your not satisfied with the outcome, you dont have to stick with one dr. Thanks Ladies for the imput. I know I definitely need a second opinion but I guess they are trying the au natural approach. Maybe I am just rushing things naturally because I want to find out if I am ovulating and why I am not having a period. I understand that for them they feel like it could be stress but in my mind it could be something else.

So, does anyone know if they give me provera can they also check to see if I am ovulating? Maybe they will they just give it to me to bring on AF and hope that AF will come naturally the next time? Anyway I am doing some research to find another doctor for a second opinion.

My OBGYN kept telling me I'm not ovulating when I should be if I keep missing my periods, that's why you need to get regulated with some meds.

Sarah, How did your doctors finally find out if your were or were not ovulating? Did they give you some sort of tests or did the progesterone challenge tell them what they needed to know? I am reading up on the issue and most websites say the doctors will ideally like to wait three months or more before they do something. I guess I will just wait it out until august.

I wasn't ovulating because I wouldn't get my periods, so my doc put me on clomid for six months but I ovulated too late in my cycle to get pregnant. I did BBT charting. Then I moved on to my RE and I have had bloodwork and ultrasounds to tell me how I'm doing.

Just wondering Sarah, why ovulating late meant you couldn't get pregnant. Ovulation is ovulation right? Is it because you were timing it wrong or b/c of something else. Just curious. I either didn't ovulate or ovulated late last month and this month I am on CD 20 and I haven't ovulated yet...at least that is what OPK and charting my temp have told me. I should also mention I was on Clomid for both cycles, 50mg.
