Any advice accepted

Also a newbie to this site. Just needed a place to go to and see that I am not the only one out there having problems ttc. I have been on multiple cycles of chlomid since April and as of now...nothing. It seems like nobody around me has ever dealt with infertility. I just want to know how others out there are dealing with all these doctor visits, meds, and emotional ups and downs. I feel like I am going out of my mind.

**Doesn't help that I see so many teenage girls in high school getting pregnant (I teach at a high school)**

I know how you feel!

I really do. I wasn't dealing with the doctor's visits very well because I needed to get my blood drawn more than a couple times a month.

I got pregnant after my 2nd month of trying but showed up one week later after the pregnancy was confirmed with the beta. I can't tell you to relax because that's easier said than done. Honestly, I took a break and now I am ready to try it again.

It certainly doesn't help seeing young girls pregnant around you. Just remember don't add any additional anxiety because it's not good for you. Try to relax and take one day at a time.

Sorry about the long post but I have to say this. You might want to get the ovulation predictor test strips. I got pregnant on day 2 of having the double stripes which are an indicator of pending ovulation.

I hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum. You are definitely not alone. We were the first group of our friends to start trying and have watched all (and I'm not exaggerating - ALL) our friends have not only their first child but second as well. Over 30 children have been born since we started trying in December 2002. Talk about feeling like no one has a clue what you are going through. Glad you found us!

Welcome. You are not alone. During seven years of marriage i have seen numerous kids born in my social and family circle. It was heartbreaking at first and then slowly i learnt to live with it, listening to every nonsense and not responding! I just prayed that one day my time will also come. Regarding dealing with meds, injections, visits et al, my doc told me not to be obsessed about them. Let them fall in your routine. Take it easy. Good luck and keep us posted.

It does feel like every single one of my friends who got married after me and hubby are pregnant or have already had their first child. My first godson was born this past July. I have 4 other friends all due in February or April. I love to be happy for them but then at the same time I get depressed over my own situation.

Welcome!!

I am also trying to have my first baby. Although I don’t work around young girls I did have to watch both of younger brothers have babies in the last year. The youngest is 20 now and his 19 yr old wife just delivered a baby girl in September. My other brother has planning a wedding for September ’06 when his fiancée told me in early August that she was pregnant - This right after a very big blow for me and my DH. In July of 06 I had a 49 day cycle, after my usual 25 to 31 days was up I thought for sure we finally had gotten PG, then the doc said .
I was under too much stress he said.

I tell you this because it emphasizes just how important it is to not let all the doc visits, meds and other people get to you. Stressing out over it can cause more heartache than you already have.

Just reading what the other ladies here have been through and getting help from them has been a huge load off me. I hope it helps you to.

Hi, Welcome to the forum! There are many great ladies here who have wonderful advice.

I can certainly sympathize with the clomid not working. I was also on 200mg and all it did was make me crazy and mean to my DH. You don't say how old you are and that has something to do with it, but I would definitely ask your doc about the 200mg. It was my OB who put me on the clomid and I went up to that dosage because progesterone tests showed I wasn't ovulating until it got that high. My RE (who was recommended by the OB when this didn't work) said that she would never have put someone my age (39) on the clomid and moved me stright to injectables.

I've since read that 150mg is the max suggested dose for clomid and that higher dosages can affect your CM so the DH's sperm can't swim to where they need to be. Also, most RE's only do a few cycles of one thing before moving on to something else. Some days I feel like I want more time, but with five cycles on the high dose and no luck you might be asking about plan B.

I've not been teaching these couple of years, but am a middle school science teacher. I don't know how you are doing it on the clomid because there is no way I could have delt with me on the drugs and the students too. I wish you all the best.

I am only 26. My progesterone levels would fluctuate each month. They have varied from 1 to 18 being the highest. I think after this cycle dh and I are going to call it quits on the chlomid and see what happens from there. Maybe consider IUI.

As for teaching and being on chlomid, its not so bad. It was when I had to spend 4 days this summer at cheer camp with 35 teenagers while on chlomid was bad.

Welcome, you will find there are tons of teachers here on the forum!! I did clomid for 6 months but then moved onto femara with the IUI. It's the same kind of pill but less side effects.

I am a believer in iui. I have always used clomid (have never had more than 2 follicles ever!). I have an hcg trigger and then an iui about 36 hours later. I always have lower progesterone for which I now take endometrin (took other suppositories previously while pregnant). I take a certain amount of comfort in knowing when I ovulate, where the sperm are being put, etc. It isn't the most romantic way to have a baby, but it has worked for me in the past and I am hoping it will here pretty soon again! Have you considered iui?

We are considering an iui, but since insurance does not cover it, we are going to have to wait and save up some money. Money is always an issue around the holiday season. Might think about trying one in March.

IF is a tough journey. The nice thing is, we have all found this place to come together for support. While others cannot understand where we are at, the people here can. It is amazing that months ago I didn't even know this site existed, and now I rely on my online friendships for encouragement here.
