Unhappy Hi from Dumfries VA

Hi all!

I am new here. I am feeling pretty low and down after my DNC today with the cramps and all ......and didnt really wanna call up my mom overseas and again crib about how I am feeling empty without a baby in my life . I guess even she has run out of things to say to comfort me. So here I am typing away. I am 27 years old and my husband is 28 years old , been married for 5 years and have been trying to conceive for the past 3 years. I have thyroid problems as well so its been a difficult road ahead not to mention a rude doctor who I am just another number. I am at this point where I cant make up my mind if I should go to a fertility clinic or stay with my gyne of past two years. Today she told me I should get a Clomid challenge test, HSG and progestrone test done. I havent taken clomid as yet ( and God knows I am dying to get on Clomid) My question is should I take the above tests before I get on clomid? From my research online I understood that the tests prescribed to me are part of the infertility tests. if this is going to help me in anyway I am ready to go with it. But again I am thinking should I stay with my gyne or go to a infertilty clinic since I am going to pay for it anyways. Pleaseeeeee help me !

Can your doctor not refer you to a RE or a fertility clinic? You need someone who is proactive in your care. If you've been ttc for three years and haven't yet had basic bloodwork done or been given a prescription for some Clomid it's time to take charge of your reproductive health and demand some more specialized care. As a patient, if you're not getting adequate care, it's your RIGHT to request to see someone else. Welcome Aboard...and warm hugs to you.

I would go ahead and do those tests. You can still use that month as a month of TTC. The progesterone is just a blood test. The CCT is where they take your blood on CD3 for FSH and LH levels, then have you do clomid on CD5-9, then more b/w on CD10 (or there abouts). The HSG HAS to be done before ovulation, and supposedly that increases your chance to get pg in the next 3 months. So you are not wasting time doing those tests.

If you do that with your OB/gyn, that isn't a problem, but if you don't get pg that month, definitely switch to a fertility specialist (RE).

Good luck
