Clear annual exam= fertile?
If you've already had one child and are trying for more, you mave more reason than most to suppose that nothing is wrong. If year after year, you go in for check ups, and everything is fine, but you're still not pregnant and want to be, tell your doctor.
I have heard of women using their annual gynecological exam for an abstract "all clear" from a doctor who "must know about fertility." Their opinion is that if their pap came back ok, then they should be able to conceive. In the quest to add another child to your family, this attitude could mean permanant stop to the growth of your family!
Pap smears and pelvic exams do not diagnose blocked tubes, adhesions or anovulation. They screen for certain types of diseases and life threatening situations. A "surface" OB/GYN visit will hardly ever reveal reproductive complications. If pregnancy is your goal, you must be open with your doctor so they can look beyond the routine exam and help you find out the obstacles keeping from your pregnancy goal.
