"Just be grateful you have the one...."

People like this... thoroughly piss me off.

I complain and vent about my frustrations with my body and wanting to have 3-4 kids...

They often roll their eyes, and say things like "well just be grateful you have the one, some women dont even get that..."

or "Hey at least you got one."

UGH! Yeah I am eternally grateful that I have my DD.... But I want more... that should be just as important as the birth of the one I already have...

My family is so supportive but it's...frustrating sometimes when my extended family says things like "My god you're barely, not even 21, WHY do you want another one!?" It makes me feel like crying sometimes because people dont get it that the potential second, third, fourth is JUST as important as the first...

Thanks for listening to my soapbox.

I understand, I get that too. My MIL is always talking about everyone she knows that is pregnant. I'm like, umm do you think I care? You are being insensitive. Some people just don't get it.

wow....people today are justing speaking my mind before i get the chance to say them...you are the second person who has shared my thoughts. everyone i told today that my beta was negative told me the exact same thing...i have two kids from a previous marriage, and everyone who knows we were going through IVF said, why are you doing all this, you allready have two kids? why cant you just be happy with what you have? let me just say this to that phrase---if everyone took that advice...our world would be totally different if everyone was content with what they have and don't yearn for more...i told one person to take their own advice...she was not to happy with that. i know how very blessed i am to have two wonderful, healthy, beautiful, intelligent, polite (i could go on all night) children, but does that mean i am not allowed to feel like i still have a whole in my being that needs to be filled by more children? people are so insensitive and, well for lack of a better word, STUPID!!!!! good luck with this clomid cycle..

I just chose not to tell but to select few. I just thought it was none of their business. I remember when me and my dh were trying, people were like "Why have another one when you have two already, you should be thankful for the two you already have". These types of remarks are why I decided not to tell. I believe its my decision if I want a bigger family and not theirs. I come from a very small family and always wanted a big one. I am so envious when I attend people's get togethers and all their families are there. I want that too. So don't let "them" bother you, just do what makes you happy

I feel the same way. I have a DS and my best friend has fertility issues as well. So she is ALWAYS saying "At least you have one, I prob wont have any". Her ins does not cover treatments at all and she can not afford the treatments. So, If I do get preggers...I'm sure it will end our friendship.

Goodness I know..

I get a lot of comments more - so on my age... So what? We've been married for almost four years, together for almost 5 and a half! Seriously, I get people going "God, you're TTC again!? But you're so young!"....

/sigh

Try having seven children in the home and tell people you are ttc one or two of your own! *lol* Their eyes get big, their mouths drop open, they shake their heads in disbelief, and then they start in on the comments....but for a few blessed seconds you get silence!

I agree. People just don't understand. I adopted my son and now I want another and can't conceive again. Adoption #2 seems a million miles away. I wish people that have no problems conceiving could walk in our shoes for a day.

AMEN TO THIS WHOLE

THREAD!!!

And all of the reasons above are why we are going back for the 3rd ivf round. DH said to me last week, we are going to keep going back until we walk away pregnant. And to think he was totally against it in the beginning. Prayer does change things, now if I can just find that right prayer that will change my preggers status that would be great. I pray God remembers my address sooner than later.

Anna,

I'm still laughing! I've had comments too! In fact, on Easter, my FIL told me he wish he could help out with donating sperm! It took everything I had in me to walk away from that comment. I didn't even respond, even though he told him he was joking.....it's no JOKE! UGH!

I always get the same question, "Have you thought about adoption?" Ah, yes we have.

One of the best ones I heard lately was from a friend who has 2 of her own natural children say, "if I could afford it", I would adopt 10 kids. Ok....seriously, I think some people say it just to say it!
