Telling your families

So - after getting the news that you're going to have difficulty conceiving, have you told your families? How do you bring it up?

My husband is more private about this and would probably rather not tell anyone - but I need the support and prayers of my parents and siblings.

So - how did all of you tell the family?

My family found out because we had a miscarriage over a year ago. They knew we were trying again and we've been pretty open with them about what's been going on...until now. We're moving on to IUI and I don't want everyone to know the details. It's a personal decision that you and DH will need to decide on. In our case, I'm only telling my mom about our treatments because I tell her everything. Maybe you could talk to DH about confiding in one family member and ask that they not talk to your DH about it. You could try to find some sort of compromise. There is another thread that's active right now that addresses a similiar topic. Let me see if I can find it.....

We also had our DD on our first try, so we had big mouths and said we were trying for #2. It's now been over 3 years and it hasn't happened. So most everyone know because we were so vocal about wanted another one, and then it didn't happen. Stupid decision in hindsight.

I felt like I had no choice. At one point with the IVF, I had to stay at there house for a couple of days due to commuting issues. I told them about a few months before we started the process and my sister as well who is a nurse. She may have had to give me injections if my husband was not available all the time. We told his mother two days before the ET. He was upset that my parents knew and not his. Besides these family members, Three of my friends new and they were the ones who helped me when I was stressing about why I wasnt getting pregnant and they encouraged me to see someone, so I just kept them updated.
