Tired of being in pain - trying to conceive

I am new at this so please bear with me.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 1999. I have had 5 laparoscopies, 1 presacral neurectomy with uterine suspension and 1 miracle c-section. I was always told that I would not be able to conceive. After my 5th lap we started trying and after 2 months we got pregnant. All went wrong that could go wrong with my pregnancy. But God was with us through it all and we have a healthy 10 month old baby girl. She is wonderful.

About 6 months after delivery I started having my endo pain again. We were told to not wait but start trying to conceive right away. We have been trying for 5-6 months now with no avail. We just recently went to see a specialist. Unfortunately, not the one that we were seeing as our insurance has changed. So we are starting over. He does not want to do surgery and after an ultrasound found that I have a chocolate cyst on my left ovary. We were told that you could only have a chocolate cyst if it is on both ovaries. But the more research that I do the more it sounds like it can be only on one side. He wants to do invetro or fertility pills right away. Isn't this a little too soon to start fertility pills?

If anyone has suggestions, please let me know. I am desperate as the pain is terrible and I need answers.

I'm so sorry to hear about your pain. I was just diagnosed with endo, however, mine is only stage 2 and I don't have that terrible pain. Given the severity of your endo, I would say go ahead and start fertility treatment if you are anxious. I've heard that being pregnant keeps the endo at bay. So, it would make sense to start trying asap after delivery. Personally, I would start treatment just so the endo doesn't get any worse while you try naturally. I'm starting IUI in May and am freaking out worrying that the endo will come back (just had a lap 3 weeks ago and they removed it). Best of luck. Feel free to PM me.

That is just it...I don't think that I am ready to go down that road. My sister went on clomid and all sort of side effects happened to her. I think that I am scared of that the most. And she got pregnant twice on it and had two miscarriages. I know that I shouldn't base my decision on her experience but I am afraid that will happen to us.

How do you feel since your lap? I always feel 100% better. Good luck in May.

Everyone's experience is different with fertility treatment (and pregnancy). I wouldn't worry about what happened to your sister. For me, the side effects are worth the chance of getting pregnant. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about options that don't involve drugs. IUI without drugs maybe?

I actually feel worse after my lap! I never had painful periods and this last one was awful. Hopefully that doesn't continue.
