We had our sons vaccinated on schedule. I'd heard the stories about autism and such, but I felt very strongly about getting the boys vaccines on time. Would I rather have my child get sick with some horrible disease (like polio for example) that could have been prevented rather than risk something that really hasn't even been documented that well? My ped gives us a pamphlet on every shot the kids get so that I can read up on the details and get in touch with the NIH if I'm concerned. Also, my boys have never had a reaction to any of the shots, which is good because when I was young, I got violently ill from the DTP shot every single time I got it. That shot has since been changed to DTaP so that there are less side effects.
We even get the boys flu shots every year because I would rather prevent them from that sickness than risk them getting a high fever, etc.

I had read that they changed the DTP to DTaP. I also read that they have been using a new safer inactive version of the polio vaccine since 2000. So, it sounds like vaccines are safer than in the past. We are still a little nervous, but we are planning to have our daughter vaccinated on Friday. I believe she is getting the DTaP, Hep B, a shot to prevent strep lung infections and one other I can't remember.
Does anyone else have any experiences, good or bad, with vaccines?
