Unhappy Still Trying

I am still trying to have another baby. I went to an endocrinologist last week, and they want me to have an HSG done, but the bad thing is I don't have insurance right now and, the test costs $1,000 and they want me to pay $800.00 up front the day the test is done. And my husband got hurt at work last week and he hasnt been at work since last Tuesday so I couldnt afford it this week. And the nurse said I will have to wait until next month before I can have the test again. And the other thing is my friend is trying to have her first baby. I should be happy for her....I mean I am happy but money is noooo problem for her. So when she tells me all about her tests and her news its really hard because I cant do what I need to do at the present time. Can anyone tell me if an HSG hurts? The doctor said if the test is ok he wants to start me on shots. Then he wants me to be artificially ensiminated because my husbands motility is low. I'm wondering if I spend all of this money will it even work? I'm sorry to write a book and dump this in your laps. Thank you for listening. Paige...

Paige I'm sorry that you have to go thru all of this. I understand with the whole friend thing. I watched 4 of my friends get prego and deliever while I have been trying. My 5th friend is due Jan 28th. It is really hard to be happy when you're going thru so much. I don't know alot about IVF but I think all the girls on the main infertility board do. Try posting this there, it's the 1st forum with the most posts. I have had a hsg and it is a little uncomfortable. I only had pain when they inserted the catheter, some other people had pain throughout the procedure. You have a little spotting and slight cramping after. It has to be done between days 6-10 of your cycle to make sure that your not prego. It is definately worth it. I'm sorry that your husband got hurt at work, I hope he is okay. Best of luck to you.

Hi Paige,

I had an HSG done over the summer. I had slight discomfort when they inserted the catheder. The bad pain for me came when the die was inserted. The doctor said that was due to one of my tubes being blocked. I had pain driving home and laid on the sofa for a few hours until it went away. Try to have someone come with you. I made the mistake of going alone and thought I could handle any news. Of course after I got the results I couldn't stop crying and wishing I had my DH or Mom there. Everyone is different though so don't get worried. My friend had it done and she had very mild pain. A good tip, take IB Profen about 30 minutes before your appointment. I didn't and wished I did.

Let me know how it goes! Good luck!
