I have to say this: I feel incredibly blessed to have the RE I do. There are actually five doctors in the practice, but I keep ending up with the same one, and she's the most supportive person ever. She lays it all on the line, I don't feel she's holding anything back, but when she feels something is good or hopeful, she puts it out there as well.

The RE I went to two years ago nearly rolled his eyes. I could almost tell he was thinking, "At your age? Lady, please, I have younger women to help..."

No so this time.

These people look like it's the most wonderful thing in the world to be helping me toward achieving this.

Between my husband's enthusiasm and desire, the RE and staff, and the support of this forum, I might just make it through.

Kay, give us an update since your B-day. When's your next appt....I am so excited for you...

Lia, you are lucky to have found such a great doctor. Mine's okay, but it's such a big clinic I feel like we are just one of the masses sometimes. I know that it's good to have a number of doctors as they need to be available at all times, but it would be nice have more consistancy.

Kay, I'll be waiting until after five p.m. (EST) today to hear your good news.

Tamar, what end of the country are you on? MY RE and clinic are in Atlanta, and there are actually a total of four offices, so it's pretty big. I've been surprised at how warming and "family" they feel.

We are in Salt Lake City....The only other clinic here is private and they seem to have a religous slant which excludes alot of people..( mine is at the U of U). I think this is why the clinic is so busy. BTW, my hubby lived in Atlanta for many years...we met when he moved back to Los Angeles about four years ago.

Kay, we are waiting for a wonderful update!

I'm originally from SoCal, about an hour north of Los Angeles. I love it here in the southeastern US, though.

The RE is in Atlanta, but I actually live up in the mountains of western NC -- beautiful country, but a little backward.

Whooo Whooo Kay! That's awesome

Lia, how funny! I'm from Santa Monica, born and bred. My hubby and I decided we had had enough of LA and decided to head to the Mountains with my work. Funny that I move to Utah when we decide to have kids were the average age of marriage and childbirth is like 18....Ah well, we are happy here

Go, Kay, Go!!! Alright, girlie, you know the drill. Ready??

"If you're preggers and you know it..." (clap 'em, Kay, clap 'em! ) hehehe Congratulations!! Sounds like... could it be?... why yes... those numbers sound like two li'l babers to me.

Tamar, Santa Monica was my sneak-away-to beach when I lived in SoCal. (Until 1993). I could reach it in an hour and fifteen minutes. I ended up back here in NC on a fluke, but it's been an excellent place to raise kids, the scenery is gorgeous, and I'm within a few hours drive of anything major I need in life.

Now, if I can just make this baby happen...

Hi all! So, other than being over 40 (or almost there), many of us seem to have a connection to Santa Monica - huh! I lived there from 1995 until 2001. I moved there right after law school for a two year fellowship and ended up staying for 6. It's such a great place. I'm going this weekend to visit friends with a new baby, and am excited to check out the old haunts.

So, lots going on here --

Tamar - What a store of eggs you've got there, girlie! 22 - I'm very impressed.

Lia and Mindi - I sometimes write little notes to remind myself what people wrote about so I can respond, and I wrote next to Mindi's name "awesome uterus." Then I read on and noted next to Mindi's note - "Lia too." Nice job, both of you, on getting the RE seal of approval on your fabulous uteruses - or is it uteri? Soon your little ones will be appreciating hanging out there for 9 months or so!

Lia - It's fantastic that you like your RE. I had one I didn't trust during my entire year + of IUIs. I imagine he didn't have anything to do with our bad luck, but it felt like such an incredible relief to find someone who I adore and trust (even if we have to pay everything out of pocket for him).

Mindi - I actually ski up in Tahoe. I live in Northern Cal, but when I was in So Cal, I never got to Big Bear or Mammoth. Always meant to. Going skiing was a little bittersweet - this was my third year going expecting that I'd be too pregnant or have too little of a baby to go the following year. But still no. Next year, next year.

Hi Kay, Marisa, others. I'm off to have DP stab my butt with some estrogen so I can get my own "awesome uterus" and fight this evil lupron. B

Okay, I have a confession to make: Today has been a day of hell for me. My mother called me just after 1:15 this afternoon to tell me my father had a heart attack, so I've been on the phone with California all day, hospitals, sister and brother, mom, whoever. It was a massive heart attack and he's lucky he's alive, but he is alive, so I feel... stable and prayerful and hopeful. (I will also be packing to fly out to CA in the next day or two to be on hand to help them out)

Then I came here, and I read all this great news and it made me feel good again. The world is still spinning, people are still approaching happy things, babies are still coming. Life is a good thing, even when something stressful is going on.

But ultimately, it took Bethany's post to make me laugh out loud for the first time in about the last 9 hours.

>>"Lia and Mindi - I sometimes write little notes to remind myself what people wrote about so I can respond, and I wrote next to Mindi's name "awesome uterus." Then I read on and noted next to Mindi's note - "Lia too." Nice job, both of you, on getting the RE seal of approval on your fabulous uteruses - or is it uteri? "<<

Bethany, that is absolutely hysterical!! And it sounds just like something I would jot down to myself. Thank you for making me laugh!

I may be approaching the point where I need botox between my eyebrows, but I have a certain undeniable uterine beauty...

Thank you, Kay, prayers would be very much appreciated.

Seriously, though, I take such encouragement and happiness out of reading about the good things going on with all of you. Following your from the 25 eggs retrieved from your donor, to the 16 fertilized to the twins you're expecting... that's the sort of thing that makes me smile. I'm counting on everyone woman here to end up pregnant and delivering healthy, beautiful babies!

Good news is strength. Good news is life. Good news is my reminder that God never really leaves us in the lurch, he's always there, always all around, always doing something wonderful and always interacting with people.

This site -- and all of you -- are a great source of good news.
