Just a note to check in with you all. Not much new here.. I had a consult with the Dr last week, he said that of course the best option is DE... I need to get my finances in order first... I'm freaked out about spending 50k so far and have memories to show for it, but nothing to hold. You girls know what I mean. It's not about the $$ but it is horrible when it's not successful!

so I'm taking a break for now, seriously dieting, (since my eggs aren't coming out anytime soon) and exersizing. I looked back at my journal and I have gained 20 pounds during this 9 month IVF journey. I feel horrible, physically, and if I'm lucky enough to get the $$ for DE, he said the success rates are 85 and 100 percent, on the SART website.
I have a flood of emotions as you can imagine, as well.

MSA please let us know about your BFP! I'm excited for you!

Hugs to everyone, and baby blessings to you alll.

Janet

msa, can't wait to hear your results!

We are on the bcp wait until the 16th when we'll start the fertility drugs again. I'm having all sorts if naseau and break through bleeding which is making me feel crappy. The re prescribed a different bcp this time which I'll need to remember if we do this again.

Hello Everyone:

I am in the middle of superovulation again. Since I don't have many antral follicles (5), the nurse said IVF is not really for me. However, since I did at least get pg last time with IUI but had chromosonal issue with egg and miscarried, that I should continue with superovulation.

This is quite the ride, isn't it? I just have to check out a bit on the whole process to be able to get through it. We're going to be looking into adoption now too. While I want to try the DE route, my DH does not want to at all. He'd rather adopt, he said. I think I can live with that... but the question is still open.

Tamar, I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms from the bcp. I've had breakthrough bleeding before and it can be disheartening, but my RE said that it is nothing to be concerned about and one can absolutely still get pg with it. In fact, he acted like it was nothing, except a nuisance. I am sending you positive thoughts...

Janet, You have a good plan to go forward with exercising and looking into financing. I feel for you and what you are going through. Good luck with the DE route.

for you MSA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let the wailing and gnashing of teeth begin…

Alas, the BFP will have to wait for another cycle. I received the news early this morning, but I could tell last night that AF was lurking just around the corner, waiting for Progesterone and Estradiol to vacate the premises before she came a-knockin’. Indeed, I’m already spotting. And that zen feeling I had had for the last two weeks? Gone. Replaced with a lot of tears and self-recriminations about waiting too long to try, brought on perhaps by learning yesterday that one of my closest colleagues at work, the one who swore up and down that she wasn’t going to get pregnant any time soon…yeah, knocked up. And our new administrator? Ditto. That just made me think back to the end of the school year when we all celebrated the April birth of another colleague’s second child, and the impending births by two other co-workers and the wife of another co-worker (with twins!), all due in October. I don’t know. Is it something in the water??? If so, give me a tanker full!

DP and I cried together and cuddled our little fur-baby, who came to see what all the commotion was about. Once AF is truly settled in, likely by tomorrow, I’ll call my RE’s office and make the appointment for the “Where do we go from here?” talk. DP and I have already agreed that we’d like to try at least one more cycle, but I have no sense of what RE will think of that. We’ve toyed with the idea of IVF, but so much will depend on 1) whether we can get the financing (our only real asset is our home, but with plummeting home values, it’s iffy), and 2) whether RE is willing to continue this journey with us.

Question: What makes one a good candidate for IVF with her own eggs? I know that I haven’t produced more than 5 antral follies (Taka, you are my follie heroine!), though my last FSH was pretty good (5.4 back in March) and so were all the other tests run. I have a feeling that these next two days, waiting for AF and to see RE, is going to be worse than my last 2ww! Any thoughts you may have would be appreciated.

Taka, I hope you’re feeling better and that the new bcp works better. Good luck!

Marilynn, that super-O leads to BFP!

J-Lynn, I like your idea of using this time to reign in the weight gain. I’ve gained about 10lbs. myself. You've inspired me! And I second Marilynn--Good luck with DE route.

MSA-- Oh sweetie, I feel for you! I'm so sorry to hear about yet another let down.

We are in the same boat with the money... have equity in our home, but cant get to it without re financing, and in this market, it's so hard to do that. My only options at this point are the care credit and other CC loans, since I have good credit. Makes me feel like a nut job. I had my dreaded talk with my RE... he didn't say I couldn't keep trying my own eggs, but at the rate my eggs come out, and the quality isn't good at all, so our talk was getting me to the fastest and least risky route to BFP at this point.

I'm sure you and DH will make the decision what's best for you.

Good news is I lost 3 pounds, and 1.5% body fat. I have never in my life been this heavy and out of shape. My boobs are a d and usually a b... LOL the only good thing... wish my belly was flat though!

Taka, Good for you, hunny! I'm so happy your trying again! I totally feel like you needed too, simplly because you had such a good egg/follie turn out!

Marilynn, Good luck and BFP for you!

Hugs to all,

Janet

MSA - I am so sorry that you and your DP have to go through this again. You could have been typing my feelings about "about waiting too long to try" and feeling like everyone and their dog is having a baby. Again, I do feel for you and will be sending positive thoughts your way.

My bravelle which was supposed to be here this AM did not show up (stinky FEDEX) and I had to drive an hour away this evening to pick up 3 vials left for me outside my REs office door. I go back tomorrow to see how the follies are going. that all is well and that they are growing big and strong.

Tamar - ditto what MSA said... you are the bomb with exceptional egg count. It just has to turn out a little one for you.

Janet - Great job with the 3 pounds. That's awesome.

Well, I guess I am getting ready to hop on the IUI roller coaster again. Fastening my seat belt

Hi guys, we just came back from a busy vacation with my sister and her family.

msa, I am so sorry to hear your news I think you'll feel better with more direction after you meet with your re.

I think IVF would be a good option if you guys are able to do it. I think it sucks that it is so expensive and not available to all of us. The only reason we are able to afford it is through my job. Thier National office is in Arizona and it is a mandated state.

one Miracle

Marilyn, I am so glad to see that you are starting up again- to lots of good follies

Janet-I think a break could be good to help you come to some decisions...it can be so hard!

Thanks ladies for all of your support. we have our first u/s on the 16th.....

Hi Ladies,

I recently joined here so I'm just starting to learn where I can best post. Looks like I've found "home"!

I'm 40 and have been TTC'ing for 4-5 years.

I'm now in the middle of Follistim cycle #2. So far so good (details in my blog) - looks like this cycle is more controlled vs cycle #1 where OHSS was expected thus we cancelled - even if I got scared a bit with my inadvertent use of expired Follistim!

We project to do IUI Monday or Tuesday next week. I flied over some blogs/posts re what to expect in IUI and I'm a bit anxious right now...so I will go and prepare myself.

Onemiracle and Arpee, !! Nice to have you both on board.

Onemiracle, congrats on your pregnancy . It's lovely to see a success story. Hopefully, a few more of us will be joining you

Arpee, we may be doing our iuis on the same day. I'm projected to have b2b iuis either Tues/Wed or Wed/Thurs. I'd be glad for the company during the long 2ww. Babydust to all of us!

The conversation with my RE I was dreading wasn't so bad. He did say that the practice is to do no more than six cycles of injectibles, then move on to something else. And he did okay a referral to speak with an ivf specialist but cautioned that with the number of follicles I produce (this cycle, I only have 3 ), I probably wouldn't be a good candidate. So, ladies, keep those fingers and toes crossed for me, please! And I'll do the same for you

Taka, how did your u/s go?? Here's hoping this cycle is IT!

J-Lyn, I hope your health routine is coming along. I went 2 miles on the treadmill today. I know, I know, not very far, but I'm getting there!

Marilynn, how are you doing??

We are going to our u/s tommorow and will most likely be starting the meds on Monday.

MSA - my fingers are crossed for you. If you are doing superovulation, 3 follicles sounds good to me. My nurse told me that I only had 5 antral follicles not so long ago, but when my RE did an u/s he found a lot more.

Taka - good luck with your first u/s.

Arpee - good luck on your iui. IUI is not bad. It's really straightforward procedure.

One miracle - congrats to you

I had an IUI on Monday. I had 5 follicles all between 18-25. Lining 10. Post wash of 22 million with 85% motility.
