Awe, tamar sorry about AF I really do not know about IUI only IVF so I am not sure what advice to give you for your next step. I am sure your doctor has some sort of plan? Keep your chin up, your time will come!!

This Tuesday I see a nutritionist for the 1st time. It should be interesting. I have been reading Dr. Luke's book and for triplets she says to eat 200 gms of protein a day. That is A LOT, even with a few protein shakes thrown in. I doubt my body really needs that much at almost 9 wks. I am not so much worried about the weight gain as I have already dedicated my body to this pregnancy. I'll live with the extra pounds and stretch marks to have a healthy baby.

On Feb 13 I have a consultation with a Perinatologist who is specialized in high risk pregancies. I hear he is a really good doctor but not much of a talker.

Hi all. Just checking in.

Tamar - I'm sorry that AF had to rear her ugly head this weekend. Even knowing the "percentage" that things will work or not, of course our hopes get raised and it's just as devastating when it doesn't work. I hope your doctor helps you with the decision of where to go from here. Personally, I did 9 iui's (mostly unmedicated, one with letrozole) before going to IVF. And, of course, in retrospect financially it would have been better to go to IVF earlier. But I don't think I would've done it any differently.

On an inspiring note, a 44-yr-old friend of mine who has been trying to get pregnant for a while is into her 2nd trimester, just got back her CVS results, and all is healthy. She did a medicated IUI. So, once again, there is hope.

Babysteps - it's great that you're going to a nutritionist. I imagine that if your body needs 200 grams of protein a day, you're going to start craving that much. Hopefully you're not a vegetarian! And I'll be thinking of you on the 13th for your perinatologist appointment. Hopefully even if he isn't a talker, you can get him to give you the info you need.

We're moving forward with our donor egg process. Our donor was just given the green light following the gazillion tests she had to take. Tonight I begin taking BCPs to align our cycles, so hopefully March will be our month! I'm actually excited about this whole ttc again - I can't believe it.

Have a good day everyone. -B

Babysteps- I'd love to hear what your nutritionist says. I've been doing some reading on eating with multiples since I have the possibility when we transfer two. That should be a really interesting apt.

Bethany- That is fantastic news that you will be moving forward with the ED. I'm glad everything checked out for her. You will be just one month behind me. for !

Hi guys, Sorry I have been off a couple of days. An update: we went to the doctor for our 3 day ultrasound to see about doing another round of follisitm and the dr. said I had alot of large cysts in one of my ovaries left over from the last attempt. I guess this is pretty common. They want me to take birth control pills to help calm everything down...In the meantime My husband and I are thinking of setting up a IVF appt....Have you guys heard of anyone at 42 that has used their own eggs? My Dr. told me that we had a 10% chance of getting pregnant with my own eggs...that just seems low...

Anyway he wants us to try the injectibles for at least one more cycle...

Are any of you guys doing any type of relaxation or exercise that you feel is helping? Beth, thanks for the story of your 44 year old friend. The more I hear of things like that the more hope it gives me.

Faith, I would love to hear more about the acupuncture and how you feel it is helping. I had a couple of freinds that have done it and they swear it helped them conceive...both were in there late 30's.

Hello

Hello ladies, my name is Christine and I am 40. My DH and I just did 2 cylces of IUI with clomid and trigger shot. After the last cycle went to consult with dr and my blood pressure was through the roof. He said we could not continue until we figure that out. Went to cardiologist and said we had to get the blood pressure under control before we continue with any other treatments. I am bit overweight and I know with the clomid and hCG I gained weight. So we are going to take a break and try to lose some weight and get the blood pressure under control. I am glad to see I am not the only one at my age ttc.

So far so good, I'm holding at CD28! After all my wonkiness, I don't know what to think! hey! did I just invent a new word?!?!?

I don't POAS any more so I'll give it another week or so and request a UPT at my NPs office, it's much cheaper than buying sticks!

I'll keep ya posted. Meanwhile, everything is crossed!!!

Tamar- sorry about the cysts. I get those frequently as well. I don't know much about using your own eggs after 40 (minie were shot in my thirties) but if your RE is wanting to try again, I say go for it!! I sure hope for success for you!

Christine! Good for you on trying to lose weight. I know that is hard because I have struggled with weight as well. I spent all of last year getting to my "healthy" BMI. I wanted to be as healthy as possible going into regnancy at "an advanced maternal age" (don't you love that terminology?) You can do it ! Keep us posted on your progress.

Julie- I'm crossed for you! Being at day 28 is great. Come on BFP next week!! I don't know how you do it staying away from those evil sticks. Good girl. Keep up the hope.

All is quiet on my front. I am just shooting up and patching up every day wishing time away for Wed. for my u/s and donor report. I have some hurdles ahead of me. But I am thinking positive thoughts.

The week end is coming!

Babysteps- How did the nutritionist apt. go? Any good pointers for us future to be moms of possible multiples?

Kay

Hey Taka, am on my 5th month of doing acupuncture. it would take around 5 - 7 months before your body adjusts with everything, meaning the hormones and energy levels, that kind of stuff.

My acupuncturist starts by checking both my pulses and my tounge. during my first session, He told me i had poor digestion and blood circulation. The way acupuncture helps is it will improve blood circulation around the reproductive area. Apparently, the blood used in the digestive system is shared with your reproductive organs. I noticed recently my periods have improved, not much cramping and clotting. I go 2x a week. Now, am getting the circulation I need.

in the clinic where I go to, there have been alot of pregnancies already. I'm just waiting for my turn. I believe that my acupuncture is worth it. Give it a try. It definitely helps bring down stress. Go for it!!
