Timing accupuncture

I am scheduled to probably start injections in about 10-12 days and am going to place a call to an accupuncture clinic that specializes in fertility. I really don't have the budget for twice weekly accupuncture on top of everything else, so I'm wondering what timing I should use to get the most bang for my buck. We are doing Gonal-f and IUI and this is our first go-round. Do I schedule the accupuncture the day of the IUI? If so, after or before? Do I try to do it once even before that?

before this cycle, I would only do acupuncture every other week or so. Doing it before the IUI is the best because they can do electrostimulation (not after though) which helps get the blood flowing. And even though I had it 1 or 2 times before IUI (and nothing after) I had the best lining I ever had and the biggest follies (unfortunately the first time it was on my left -no tube so no IUI and the second it was on my rt, but it just didn't work).

good luck!

I know for embryo transfers, the studies show that acupuncture on the day of transfer -- both before and after -- showed a statistically significant rise in pregnancies. As for iui, I would think that having it done leading up to the iui would be best. Also, my therapist only had me come once a week beforehand, so the twice a week does seem excessive to me. Do you have a flexible spending account for healthcare? Mine covered the acupuncture.

Good luck.

Kathryn.

I go twice a week and have been doing that for 4 months. Yes, it gets expensive. My girl thought I should come in right before and right after IUI.

I was going once a week for the last four months. I started stims this past Friday and will go twice a week while stimming (which is about 10 days of stimming). Like earlier posts said it helps get the blood flow moving and helps the lining become thicker and ovaries nice and fat! The studies show going day of and day after but if you have had poor response or quality in the past I would recommend going twice a week to help with that. It really comes down to what you're comfortable with and the cost. Nothing seems to be cheap in this process huh? Good luck and come on BFP's!!!
