Hi KelB,
I just wanted to say hello and tell you how exciting it is to see someone else a few steps ahead of me in the adoption process. My husband and I are in the process of meeting with local adoption agencies right now and will hopefully chose one to work with for the homestudy and maybe domestic infant placement by the end of December. I am very anxious to get started and want the process to move quickly too. Would you mind PM me your agency? I'm not sure if we are going to use a local agency or nationwide agency yet, but I'd like to use someone with shorter wait times. Best of luck to you on your adoption journey. I hope you have your baby in your arms very soon! Heather

Well, good luck to you too Heather! This is a very exciting time, but I am constantly reminded of just how much this is all out of my control. I will PM with the info. you requested.
If anyone can give any input on how long it took to process your fingerprints I would really appreciate it. I read that if you have a deadline and write that on the cover letter it may speed up the process. We didn't put anything since when we sent away our finger prints the website listed 4-5 weeks for processing and that would have been right in line with when our homestudy was going to be finished. Since then they have extended to time again to 8-10 weeks. So frustrated!

Our FBI check took about 5 weeks, usually your agency can call for you to let you know how long its taking at this time of year.

Thanks! That makes me feel a little bit better. We have been stressing out majorly. I am so worried something is going to be wrong with our prints and we will have to have them done again. I am just so stressed over every little step.

I have had 2 fbi checks one for work and one for foster care.
The work one took about 3 weeks, the one for foster care took around 4. Getting the home study scheduled and your SAFE evals will probably be the ones that take the most time. |

Our FBI clearance took about 3 weeks (we did it last November). Good luck - I hope yours comes back very soon and you can move ahead! We had such a great experience with adoption and I wish the same for everyone!

So, we noticed on Friday that the FBI clearance request was charged to our credit card last Thursday. Hopefully this means the actual report is just a few days behind in the mail and the request was approved
. Everything else is all ready to go...including the nursery! Please keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer that it all comes in quickly and without any further delays!!
