Hello. New Here.

My husband and I found out about 3 years ago that we couldn't have children together. He suffers from idiopathic azoospermia and we tried to use a donor, but since I have always wanted to adopt, even before I found out we couldn't have children together, I felt it was our best option.

So, sometime in the beginning of next year we are going to start the adoption process. We have 2 agencies in mind and are having trouble figuring out which one to choose. I have read reviews on both and even did a BBB check, but my husband and I are torn. He wants to go with the one and I am leaning towards the other. I am thankful we have plenty more time to think about it and find out more information.

By the way. My name is Kirstin, I am 23 (going to be 24 on the 24th of next month) and my husband is Tyler, he is 26. We have been married for 5 and a half years now.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Kirsten, welcome! Have you talked with social workers from each of the agencies? At least with small agencies, that's the person you will have almost all contact with so it's important to have a good relationship with them and know that they will spend time with you to answer your questions and get back to you in a timely manner.

For us, we loved the social worker from the first agency we met with and our timing was perfect - we made our decision to proceed just weeks before their lottery drawing to pick families. Our name was drawn so we knew it was fate!

I wish you the best of luck - and a short wait!

Not to discourage you from posting here, but you might also check out our sister site Adoption Forums, Message Boards, Discussion Groups. Adopting, Foster, Baby Adoptions The adoption portion of this forum isn't terribly active but hopefully you will get some more responses here!

My children were adopted internationally and it has been 7 years so I can't really help with agency suggestions, but good luck with your research!

Thank you. We haven't called yet. I keep trying to remind myself to. I always remember around this time of night.

I am going to check out the other site. A friend suggested I try this one, but she isn't adopting.
