US Citizen living abroad
Has anyone adopted whilst living abroad? The Embassy has been very helpful, but wanted to know if anyone has actually done it. We're looking at Eastern Europe.
Why is it that some woman can easily have kids and 'pop out' babies left, right and centre, no questions asked...yet with adoption there is a mountain of paperwork like your signing a treaty for world protection???? I think if you have suffered from infertility for a long period of time they should waiver some formalities...just a suggestion.

I have heard that adoption in Europe is very hard because they only adopt w/in their own country? I guess because you are living there now it may make things easier for you, but don't know much about their process.
I did lots of research in the other countries, but there were NO options for us in Europe? How long is the wait? It took us a full month to fill out all the paperwork and that was working on the paperwork FULL TIME, while both of us worked! Talk about a BUSY month, but after we saw my son, it was WORTH IT! I promise you will feel the same! Why are you living abroad? Work, school, family? How cool! Let me know what you have to do, I'm curious! ![]()
