jf5505, I copied this info below from one of my other posts - hope this helps on the cost question

For us, we paid Angel $9400, Lutheran $2500, and our attorney fees, which I think were around $2000. Plus extra expenses that always come up and I can't remember right now.

Christin, I don't know anything about fostering first, but someone probably does. Glad you joined us.

I think there are a couple of people on here going down that road. Good luck and welcome to our adoption club.

Hi Ladies,

My hubby and I decided to adopt no matter what happened re: our own biological baby. We started the process last year and are adopting from China. The wait for a baby from China is very long right now (could be 2+ years) so we figured we should get busy trying to have a baby. That's when we ran into trouble. So, we are starting our first IVF in April (I start Lupron on 3-30). I think it will be wonderful to have a biological baby and an adopted baby. For anyone thinking about adoption, I really stress the beauty of it. I know it's expensive, but well worth it (I'm saying this and I am not even a mom yet) in the end.

We are planning on adopting

We want to start the process of adoption when the baby is about 6 months, since the process takes over a year. We figure they will be about 2 years apart. We already have a place where we would work through. I am unsure if we will go through IVF again? Cost is alot and the ups and down are crazy... But in the end, it was worth it when this baby is born. I always wanted three children.

Since we are starting out fostering I thought we should start preparing now so I already have 5 trashbags full of girl clothes..crib set, some dollies (can you tell all our friends have girls LOL) we have a friend that is donating some boy clothing but we havent received it yet. We also have stuff left over from when i was preg like a swing and bassinett ..I gave most of it away after the miscarriage (kicking myself for that now!!)

mrssega, congrats on your sounds like you have a great plan

christin, I didn't own ONE burp cloth when our b-mom called and went into labour two months early!!!!! Although, we didn't do a lot of IF beforehand, so I didn't have the time to gather stuff. But good for you - you will be prepared with 'stuff' when your baby/child arrives. No matter how much those social workers interview you, though, you will NEVER be prepared JOY!
