Heart

Hello everyone. I just recently got my second from my second IVF. I am trying to decide if i even want to put myself througth this a third time or just go with adoption. I have really been thinking about only thing is i have no clue where to start. Also I am a single woman. I was told that is is very hard for a single person to adopt, versus a married couple. Any info or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Carolee, I am so sorry about your BFN. Perhaps you should move in both directions at once. Try another IVF and start your adoption attempt.
The only advice I have for you on being a single parent is ask the agencies on your first call to them if they support and a work with single parents.
You might also look into foster parent to adoptive parent - that might be a great route for you.
Best of luck, these are tough decisions, but listen to your gut, you heart knows what is best.

I agree, call agencies and get their packet of info and tell them you are single. Some agencies wouldn't take me because I had a daughter, some wanted to know how old I was, and some wanted to know if I was married. Good luck!

Yes, our house is clean and my friend who is also adopting just came home with her son on weds. That makes me optimistic that this will be a short process for me.

Wanted to give a little update on where we are at.
We are opting to take the DT classes instead of the full blown 10 week Mapp Class. We have been assigned a trainer and I get to talk to him tomorrow. We are in the middle of remodeling our dining room so classes probably wont start until the Middle of May and go for 6 weeks. We are very excited to have a start date though!
2nd update is the company I work for was recently purchased by another company..and we found out that as of July 1st I will have IVF coverage. Sooo we are going to take advantage of that!
Seems a little crazy to be doing both but dh and I decided that fostering sounds right to us and there is no gurantee that the IVF will work (hasnt the last 2 times)
So there is my update

Rebecca- congrats on your BFP!!!!!! AWESOME!!

Carolee- I am so sorry about your second BFN! I don't have much advice to offer about single adoption vs couple adoption because i am fairly new to all of this also. Definitely ask first off when you talk to an agency/attorney like the other girls said. I have researched a TON on the internet on agencies etc and alot of them seem to include single parent adoption. Good luck to you!

christin- wow! that is great your company will now offer ivf coverage!! I would definitely take advantage of that. Good luck to you, too!!!

I know I havent posted on here in a while. We are still pondering adoption. I think we will attend an informational meeting in june- probably for domestic infant adoption. We will still go ahead with our ivf treatment also but at least get the ball rolling with adoption. We want to adopt someday regardless of having our own bio children or not.
Anyone heard anything about Bethany adoption agency by chance???

Carolyn, So very sorry for your BFN

I am single, did two rounds of IVF with the same results. I would look into adoption, and if you feel you have one more try in you go for another IVF at the same time.

After my second IVF I did get a BFP but lost the baby 7 weeks into it, this was the 3 mc for me 2 (natural)while I was married and one (IVF) being single. There are still so many options open to singles for adoptions, currently I am doing a concurrent adotion, in China (which is no longer open to singles, I am grandfathered in) and Ethiopia, which is a great option for singles. Ethiopia has such a need and the children are wonderful. Feel free to PM me if you need help in talking out your options, there are many reasons why I did not go domestic or foster care, here in IL foster care has a 60% return rate of the child to the family and I could not put myself through that...

Take time to heal, and move forward with your heart..
Hugs.!!!
Nancy

Thanks Ladies! We are really excited to go down both paths!
We got some more news, our Foster Care classes start next Saturday. We opted to do the DT classes in our home..they take less time (only 6 weeks) and with gas prices sky high we would rather not be driving 1 hr each way to class once a week.
We could be liscensed as early as June!!

Christin, that is very exciting.
How long will it take once a baby is placed with you for fostering, until you can adopt them?
