We are about 6 months out from looking at agencies and another 6 months after that to sign with one. So if all goes well hopefully in a two year time span we will have completed the process!

We are going to adopt from Russia or maybe look at domestic if my final IVF doesn't work. I have to have a plan B so that if this IVF fails I don't fall apart, but rahter have something to throw myself into that will get me a child...

This for me is exciting!

You know you never know with IF when or if your going to have a baby. The only thing you can do with IF is keep picking yourself up by the boot straps try again for another month. Trust me I know how hard it is and maybe that is why I had the hysterectomy after the birth of my dd so I could adopt. Or maybe it was so I wouldn't go through all the ups and downs IF throws your way. Who knows

With adoption the only question for me is when will I get my child. Every thing else kind of feels the same as waiting for my dd to be born. This time around I will cherish and I hope not stress over the adoption process.

My little angel is out there and I can not wait to meet her!

My dh and I are also looking at adoption agencies. We want to kill a ton of debt before actually applying. We feel we are being led toward international adoption, but we are trying hard to be open for whatever God has planned.

I am really anxious to hear more first-hand experiences regarding adoption, especially when you decided to stop IF treatments and pursue adoption.

There are a couple of ladies on here that have adopted. You can ask them questions if you need to. They have been helpful for me!

Dh and I are thinking of foster to adopt while we continue with IUI. IVF and domestic/international adoption just dont seem like something we can do right now. I am just so scared that a baby would be placed with us and we would think we were going to be able to adopt and then after six months or a year we would lose that child. That is what is holding us back right now. That pain would just kill me. But I know I may have to take the risk to get my baby. I dont know it is so hard. Well you see my dilema . Any advice from foster to adopt mamas would be great.

Hi Sarah, we've been slowly looking into this for several months too. Read some books. Attended a few info meetings. We only now realized that we can't do China because we are remarried and haven't been together 5 years yet. I want to be a mom before 40 so that solution won't work for us. We are looking into Taiwan and domestic too.

One concern I have is with making sure the adoption is ethical and that i can be comfortable with the circumstances.
I am getting really concerned with the degree of ‘counseling’ potential birth parents get regarding the reliquishment of their rights by third party counselors with no interest in the outcome. I wouldn’t want any birth mom to be ‘forced’ into reliquishing or not understanding the consequences. First of all, it isn’t in the best interest of the woman who could carry my child or in the best interest of the child. Secondly, I want to know that she was comfortable and won’t come back later and pretend she wasn’t and tells the child this again and again. or imagine if she had been coerced! I need to read a lot more on that so I can choose an ethical agency. I don't think that it is always easy to find one that is ethical. Some are for profit and some are not for profit. Lots to consider but I need to know I can look that child in the eye and know that the circumstances are/were as we think they are.

does anyone else have thoughts on this?

I agree with you. I also worry about the birthmother deciding to parent after I have paid for her medical bills. I have a 4 year old daughter that would be crushed if I told her her baby brother/sister can't come home the day we were supposed to pick them up. I want to know how to deal with that.
