I found a forum for adoption the other day with a similar format to this one. I signed up and checked it out, but didn't like it at all!!! We're trying to adopt because we want to love a child and raise it in a loving home. Almost all the threads on that site were about money, i.e. how you get money from the state, how you get medicaid started, etc. Nobody was actually talking about the babies. I thought it was sad and decided to stick with this site. This small thread within the forum is more supportive than the entire forum they have.

Thanks,
Rose

Rose: Have you tried the site adoption.com? They have a message board similar to this one...in fact, I think they claim to be "sister sites". forums.adoption.com I think will get you straight to the forums.

I'm there as "mondk" same as here and I think I saw Sarah on there tonight too!

Blessings, Michelle

I also go to adoption.com but I admit I hang out in the international adoption section more than the parenting one. I have posted things there but there's not a lot of action.

I too found the other sister site not too helpful ... I posted a question and only got 2 responses in a week's time ... that wouldn't happen here!

We just started the process of adoption in Dec and we are in the middle of the home study and just sent in our I-600A application to USCIS and all of our licensing paperwork ... we are adopting from Korea

parkerjohn- congrats on the beginning to your adoption journey with korea!!! I hope it goes smoothly!!

Josee- thank you for that link- i have been reading several of the blogs. Very helpful and encouraging!

I received my packets of info in the mail from 3 adoption agencies.... I don't know how the heck to decide. One agency called me already and i asked how they felt about fertility treatments during process and she said that it was fine- that they would just put our application on hold if i were to become preg. I hope they are truthful!!!!

I love that we have a bunch of different adoptions on here. Parker John, how long did they say you will probably have to wait for your little one? Are you traveling to Korea?

sara- Do the three agencies know you are on different lists? Do they care I guess is what I am wondering. And did they each want you to pay for seperate home studies, etc? Just curious!! Thanks!

They don't care if I'm on three lists. We won't do a homestudy until they get us off the waiting list. We will probably stay with two of the three agencies even if they have us do two homestudies. Especially since there is no other cost except the $20 registration until you are placed anyway.

thanks sara!! wow, i guess there is such a difference between costs/need for payment for international and domestic. The international agencies i have packets from i have to spend a couple thousand to register and for homestudy. Then about $5,000 for the dossier. Seems like they all need so much up front.

This will end up being more expensive than our ivf!! It will be so worth it though!
