Hsg

Hi,

I am scheduled for an HSG this week and I am concerned about two things. First, I read about a number of risks and wondered if anyone knew how common these risks were. Second, do I have to delay intercourse for 2 weeks after the exam?

My doctor had me take an antibiotic after the HSG, and I was fine. If it makes you feel anybetter, I'm allergic to Iodine, and I was fine. It's uncomfortable, but its over pretty quick! Also, I know for sure that we didnt wait 2 weeks for intercourse. I dont remember my doctor even mentioning that. I think we waited a day or 2. Hope that helps and good luck!

I do agree and hate to tell you that it is uncomfortable and for some very painful. I also was put on meds and told to take a pain pill an hour before to help reduce cramping. However, I was told to only wait a couple days before having sex. If I remember right I had an IUI done two weeks after! Good Luck!

The HSG is very uncomfortable. I didn't have any problems with it. I was not told to delay intercourse at all. The procedure can even open your tubes if they are blocked and you might even get pregnant this cycle. I assist in this procedure occasionally and have never heard of any problems.

HSG was clear and they injected some oil to facilitate the process. I'll know next week if the HSG helped me conceive or not. I think about it 24 hours a day....

I have had 2 hsg's done. the 1st 1 was the month before I concieved my son. I won't lie it was very painful. But when I had my 2nd 1 last month I was nervous but this time I went to a specialist and it was uncomfortable for a few seconds then i was fine! I was fine afterwards. i did take antibiotics the 2nd time. They never told me I had to wait after the hsg.

I had mine done in October. I won't lie to you, it was painful, for me at least. My situation was a bit different. I had the HSG and Salpingogram (SP?) done back-to-back. No one had told me prior to take an advil, boy I wish I did. Most important thing to do is RELAX. The worst part was having the catheter inserted into my cervix; my OB used a big gage. I know this because the nurse came in afterwards and said "good god girl". I was so traumatized afterwards; I went home, took some advil and rested for the remainder of the day.

Remember that everyone has different experiences with it. Yours may be a breeze. Good luck with your results.
