My Re started me on follisitim last month. According to u/s and bw I responded great to the meds. I started on a dose of 125 of follistim, then he bumped me up to 150. In the end I produced at least 4 mature follicles and labwork was great (don't know exact numbers but estradiol <1500). Had timed intercouse. However started spotting/bleeding (with big clots, I know TMI) on day 25, early for me, and full AF on day 28, and got a BFN. Anyone experience a similar response on Follistim, and also, I'm looking for some encouragement. Has anyone been unsuccessful on first round of Follistim but get a BFP on subsequent round???

I wish I had a success story to tell... My first IUI on Follistim was a and my second IUI was just cancelled due to over-response to Follistim. I'm waiting to do a third one in November, but I'm worried that I'll continue to over-respond and I'll have to do an IVF, which is kind of out of my price range right now... Good luck to you!

Thanks for the response pol79princess. Like you, I am also very ready to start a family. DH and I have decided to start another round of Follistim and praying for a this month. This time we will do an IUI, even tough our RE says it is not necessary due to DH not having a low sperm count. But we will see. I also am wishing you luck during your next round. I totally understand. Our insurance does not cover any of this either and we cannot afford IVF right now.

This is my 5th round of Follistim, but first round with IUI. I have started AF up to 8 days early on the stims. So sorry but not BFP to share with you. Maybe you'll get one and can come back and tell me your BFP status! Baby dust to you!

I am on my second cycle of follistim. I too had a perfect cycly my first round, did IUI and got a BFN. I find out in 4 days if I'm pregnant this cycle. I feel not symptoms though... I just keep !

I know most people don't get PG on their first round. My RE will do a maximum of 3 with IUI.

smt - I used Follisitim followed by IVF as well. But I was on a much higher dosage 950 (yup that high) and that was everyday I did those shots until the retrieval. It did not work for me because I have a high FSH but we wanted to try it with my eggs one time because my insurance covers it. The doctor retrieved 8 eggs but only 4 were mature enough to fertilize and only 1 fertilized normally. Sadly that 1 that fertilized normally stopped growing so we could not transfer.

i am hoping to move on to follitism in December, I have done 7 IUI's with clomid, and ovidrel. Every cycle i responded well to everything, mature follicles, counts perfect, ovulation, everything. But have yet to get a BFP. I wish you much luck!!!!!! Hold on, my focus is my doc keeps trying so he must think theres a chance, and as long as it is there i will grasp it!!! No matter how many financial breaks i have to go on, ill never let go!

I am new to the fertility community and hoping I can share my story and here other stories as well. I am currently in my 2ww after my second iui with follistim and ovidrel. My history had been not too good and I am hoping for my BFP soon!

4 Clomid cycles day 5-9,ovulated and 2 weeks later
1st iui follistim 50, ovidrel and two back to back iui's 2ww ended in
2nd iui follistim and ovidrel currently in my dreaded 2ww

I just finished my first cycle of IUI using Follistim. My RE was shocked that showed up. I went to my RE last Wednesday...the day AF showed up....I was devastated!!! I had a perfect cycle...he said it was a textbook case!!!! He wants me to do one more cycle with Follistim but this time he's adding Lupron. If this doesn't work he said I have to move to IVF. I this works this time. My Re wants me to take 1 month off. I'm due to see him on 11/4 so I can start the Lupron....my next IUI would be around 11/25. Baby dust to all of you and I hope this Follistim finally works for all of us!!!

Hi guys...just wanted to give an update...I am still in my two week wait...barely holding on. I am 11 days past IUI...I take a HPT on Friday if doesn't show up first...I'm that this works, but I have not been optimistic this cycle. Last month it was "perfect". This cycle I only had one mature egg and it was 24 mm...and I'm reading on some sites that this is "too mature" for injectibles (Has anyone else out there heard of that?) And it was on the right side (which may or may not be blocked)...just not looking so good...and I am not have any symptoms...We'll see, on my "perfect cycle" I got a , maybe on my "not-so-perfect" I'll get a ??? Who knows...Well I'm sending tons of to all the ladies on this thread!!!

In Sept., I was told by RE that Follistim would be her #1 choice since I have PCOS and husband had morphology of 1-4%(strict) along with IUI. So, I did Follistim 125 shots for 13 days and only had 2 follicles- the same # I produced the month before on Clomid. We got a BFN--- so, we decided to stop trying shots/IUI until I saw husband's morphology improved. He went in last Friday for a SA and it came back MUCH better--- count was 89 million, motility was 66% and morphology was 11%. I think this has so much to do with his stopping smoking. My debate now is--- do I start back with Follistim, go back to Clomid? IUI or natural? So many decisions and not sure what to do. I have read where people conceive naturally with less than 11% morphology, so, my hopes are high- I just dont want to be 1 yr down the rd and no baby...

My first round of follistim = 1 egg but I knew it was coming because I had really high fever during ovulation/timed intercoure

My second round= cancelled because I had over 20+ eggs (over responded)

My third round= but miscarried(unknown why but suspected chromosomal problem)

My fourth round= but miscarried (identical twins with Trisomy16, fatal chromosomal problem)

My fifth round= fraternal twins....one turned into vanishing twin...the other I carried to term and he is almost 10 months!!

Don't give up. It may take some time but you'll get there and it will be so worth it!!!
