Went to 2 doctors, 1st doc said Lap surgery 2nd opinion says I've no fluid in blocked tubes and I should go straight to IVF looks like blocked tubes could be fixed should I just get a 3rd opinion. The surgery is the thing that I don't want but IVF is expensive and frighteningly iffy. Any ideas - this is my first go at anything like this so this is new territory. Thanks

Hi
Hi, sweetie
I had the LAP and it was to me it was just a waste of time, the prep time, the procedure and the healing time, then to try.. with no sucess. I do know that the success rates depend on the location of the blockage and the severity. ( you also might want to be careful, because of ectopic pregnancy risks) my tubes are blocked with no fluid as well.. and I am 3 years later trying still, and going through my 2nd IVF cycle. I pray that your surgery will be successful and that you never have to experience this.. // Just stay postive and know that you are not alone.GOD can do anything

Yes I'm trying to get that 3rd opinion as you say the "tie breaker" and on the 2nd yes I agree with not wanting that surgery the healing and going natural etc and my age, lets be real nature & time waits on no one!

Hi, I am in a similar situation
Hi there,
I have found that every opinion is different. I have multiple issues and for each issue a different doctor wants to "fix it" their way. I went through a lapro for adhesions and one of my tubes was blocked and they fixed it and the other was normal. Two years later I have a fluid filled tube. The problem with the surgery is that they could have to remove your tube and you won't know until after you wake up. My one doc said once they remove your tube it can cut off blood supply to your ovary which is where your eggs are, and potentially destroy your ovary and all your viable eggs. So where I am at is attempting IVF, I am scared too and yet I am young and my eggs look fine, so why take out the tube if it could destroy my ovary and eggs. I know how frustrated and confused you are, trust me. Stay strong and make sure you are going to a teaching hospital in a large metro area because they are use to seeing more complicated cases. Best of luck ![]() |
