Tubes Removed

I have PCOS and blocked fallopian tubes. My doctor told me that to increase my chances with IVF I should have them removed. She said that the hydrosalpinx could flow back into the uterus and cause miscarriage. I had my tubes removed, but it was a very hard decision to make. Noone in my family seems to understand how I feel. I was just wondering if any of you with blocked tubes and/or hydrosalpinx have had your tubes removed to increase your chances of IVF.

tubes

Hi there ! I have both my tubes are blocked but they opened one and they don't know for how long . But if removing your tubes helps with IVF and there was no chance of opening them. I am with you 100 percent. Good luck with IVF

I didn't have my tubes removed, but I did have a ligation on both sides after my ectopic pregnancy. I asked my RE if I was at risk for another tubal pregnancy and she said yes. I decided since I wasn't using my tubes that the best decision would be to ligate. I also have had people voice their "concern". We all make the best decisions with the information we have. Don't second guess your decision. Go forward with hope.

My first Ectopic the tube ruptured so it was gone then, and my 2nd EP I had to have lap surgery to remove the pregnancy and my RE gave my the choice to keep the tube or have it taken out. I chose to have it take so that I would not go through another EP. I agree with your choice also! My chances of getting pregnant with that tube were not going to be that great since it had already caught one EP and IVF was going to be a good option for me. Good Luck to you. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks --it is your body!

Thanks. I'm becoming at ease with removing my tubes. We are very close to starting our first injections for our first cycle. Nerves are high right now, but I am full of hope.

Hi Everybody,

Its very encouraging to know that after removing both the tubes, IVF is successful.

I have endometriosis and hydrosalpinges in both the tubes. I have had one surgery done before to remove one cyst and lots of scar tissue. Now my RE told me to get surgery done to remove both the tubes and then proceed with IVF. I went for second opinion and he said the same thing.

But I am not willing to let go of both my tubes, and so I am scared. I have done 2 cycles of IVF before which failed,so my worry is that what after removing the tubes, it still fails, then there is no hope left for me.

So I trying a combination of ayurvedic medicines, pranayama and acupuncture. I just hope pray and wish that it helps, otherwise I have given up the hope of having babies.

Hi Sok. I was in the same boat as you and Jana. I was told my tubes were blocked from scar tissue and that if I wanted to have any attempt at having a baby I’d have to get them removed and proceed with IVF. I was devastated of course, I asked if we could just do an IVF cycle with my tubes but my RE wouldn’t do it because he was afraid of the fluid blocked in my tubes leaking out into my uterus and disrupting a pregnancy. So, after thinking and praying about it long and hard, DH and I decided that since we had been trying for over 3 yrs and a pregnancy didn’t happen on its own, we were ready to try the next step. Having my tubes removed was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I feel that way because having a baby is what Women are put on this Earth do to. So when that part of my body was going to be removed I was crushed, I felt like a failure. But then on the same hand I was willing to do what I had to do in order to be a Mom. A few months after my tubes were removed we started our 1st cycle. It took us awhile to get a cycle that worked, but it did work , and my angel Mya, is 6 months old. Keep your head up and stay positive. Best of luck in your decision. In the end you will do what is right for you!

Thanks Dndtalyor,

that's indeed quite encouraging, in fact after seeing this posts and others , I feel I should rethink my decision, but you are right, its a very hard one. I feel if I get both removed, there is no way in hell(pardon the language) can i conceive without ART, atleast now i have all my body parts, though not in good shape.

I dont know, I am still debating on what to do, its been 6 months since I was told this and I am still in doubt. It's just too much for me.

I was wondering how soon did you get into IVF after you got your tubes removed?
