Hello to all,

I have a general question for anyone who can answer.

I have been diagnosed with uterine fibroids and I am thinking about taking clomid. I heard that you should not take clomid if you have fibroids. Can someone shed some light on this matter for me?

Hmm...I've never heard of this. I have a few cluster fibroids as well as a pretty large fibroid on the top of my uterus. They watched them pretty closely during my clomid treatments and there was no noticeable increase in growth. Did your RE tell you this? Estrogen is usually the culprit to growth of the fibroid. Mine actually got bigger during the beginning of my pregnancy because of the increased estrogen. My OB said that it would hit its peak at around 20 weeks and that seemed to be true. It will be interesting to see if anyone else had issues with Clomid and their fibroids. If so, I'm sure it depends on the person and as long as you're monitored closely you shouldn't have any major issues.

I have fibroids and I have been prescribed clomid to try if we don't get pregnant this cycle (or we have another miscarriage). From what I understand clomid is to be used with caution if you have uterine fibroids...but for the short duration you take it, it usually does not cause the fibroids much growth, if any.
