Hi Ruby2shoes2

I'm testing around the 19th this month. I have my BT on Monday and I'll ring Tuesday to get the results I'll also make my appointment with FS then too regardles if we are UTD or not.

TryinginChicago - I'm not doing IUI yet. Possibly next step???? Have to have tubes looked at first if we don't succeed this month.

A girl at work told me she was 15wks pregnant today she's been trying for 18 months but not really "trying" happened naturally. I'm happy for her but just a teensy weensy bit jelous.

Hi TryinginChicago,

Hi Mettie! I was told by two of my fertility specialists that I could do the trigger in my abdomen, buttock or inner thigh. Anywhere there is fat and not muscle. I am taking Ovidrel so maybe that makes the difference.

I don't mind needles for shots, but there is something about doing the injection in my abdomen that really freaks me out.

that this round works for you!

Ruby2Shoes2 - have you ever tried Clearblue easy opk? I was using the ones with the two lines and I could never tell if I was O. Then, my friend suggested I try the ones with the smiley face (clearblue easy). You get a definitive O or . I also found that initially I wasn't testing for enough days. I would start testing around CD10 or 11 for about 5 or 6 days and it turns out that my LH does not surge until about CD 16 or 17, so I think if I had tested a couple more days, I would have seen a positive.

Mettie - I agree with Revell. That's what my FS told me as well. Anywhere where you can pinch an inch is where you can give yourself the shot. I had DH give it to me in my upper buttocks b/c I didn't want to see it go in. Turns out, I could barely feel anything. Less pain then getting blood drawn from your arm. I also took Ovidrel for my HCG shot, so I think it's the same procedure with any time of subcutaneous injections.

btw, I had really bad cramps yesterday, which didn't kick in until a few hours after the IUI. The IUI procedure itself is also a bit more involved then they tell you initially. I don't mean to freak anyone out, but just prepare yourself for a really uncomfortable speculum and a bit of cramping during the procedure. I also had a fair amount of spotting after the procedure yesterday as welll, but I'm told that both the cramping and spotting are perfectly normal. Good luck!

Thanks Trying for all the info...Is IUI procedure anything like the HSG? Do you remember about how long the IUI procedure is??

How long after you have the IUI do you know if your pregnant??

Also, what is Ovidrel?? Have you had to use pre-seed? I hear that Clomid drys you out....

Hoping you guys get your BFP's

Since no one has responded yet, maybe I can answer a few questions. I had my first IUI this morning - whole process took a little less than 35 minutes. FS explained the process to me for the second time and showed me what would be used for the IUI. They had me lie back and inserted the speculum, then he injected a bit of sperm and waited to see if I would have any cramping. When I didn't have any, he finished the injection. They had me rest for 10 minutes with my pelvis elevated and then I was free to go. Slight spotting. Luckily it was a very easy procedure for me - actually less discomfort than getting a pap test.

Ovidrel is an injectible hcg. Didn't use pre-seed and I didn't notice that Clomid dried me out.

I was told there would be a two week wait. If I don't get my period when I would expect it (I am a little irregular tho), then I could do a hpt. If I get a then I am to call them immediately. If I end up getting AF, then I need to call them again to start the cycle all over.

Good luck and lots of

Hi Revell,

Thanks for all the info on the IUI...How many days after you were done with the Clomid did you get your IUI?? I am just trying to get a rough timeline so that I can understand it better..

Once you do the IUI are you still supposed to BD? or no because you have already ovulated??

So since you are irregular how do you know when to take a hpt??

I had my ultrasound on CD12 and triggered that night. My IUI was scheduled for the next day but they said they could also do it on Saturday morning. So I guess it was about 5 days after my last Clomid dose.

I was told we didn't need to BD the night of the IUI since husband's sperm count may be decreased since he had to give a sample that morning- altho he doesn't have any problems. We were to BD on Saturday def.

Personally I don't plan on taking a hpt until I am late (I say that now) and I'll just wait for AF. I think some women on here take a hpt 10 days post IUI. Something about seeing the on a stick really gets me. And my cycles really aren't terribly irregular. Anywhere from 19-28 days - they just aren't as regular as they used to be. So I will wait about 28 days until I'll try a hpt.

Hope that was clear - and good luck and keep me posted. Thinking of you!

The IUI is similar to the HSG in that they insert a cathedar and inject stuff; however, I don't remember the speculum being soo bad with the HSG. I also did not have any cramping with the HSG only with the IUI. The IUI may only take a few minutes, depending on how long it takes the nurse to insert the catedar. I guess the cathear is very very thin and soft, so it doesn't always want to go directly into the cervix. It took my nurse about 5-10 minutes to get it in. She told me that one time it took her and another nurse 45 minutes to get one in someone else. Other times it goes right in the first try.

I was told that I would know if I'm pregnant next Monday when I go in for blood work, so that would be 12 dpiui for me. I went in today for my progesterone test and they definitely said they wouldn't know this early.

Ovidrel is the hcg shot. I think it's just the brand that it's sold under. There are several different brands that are offered, so it just depends what your dr prescribes. I have not used preseed and have not had any issues with being dried out, in fact, it's quite the opposite for me. I heard that too about Clomid but I haven't had that problem.

Has anyone else had their progesterone tested yet this cycle? I had mine today and they said it was 17.2 but like to see a 20 or higher when on Clomid, so they told me to take a progesterone supplement. What is the normal range? Is 20 on the low end and it goes to like 50 or something? I forgot to ask today while I was there. I always mean to ask soo many questions at the RE but when I get there I forget half of them!

Hi TryinginChicago

I got my results back for my progesterone today and I asked what my level was and she said it was 69. Not sure if that is normal or what. This is the first time in 4 cycles i've asked what my level was.

A tip for all your questions. Write them in a diary. I have a diary so I know what appointments I have and also to track my cycle. I would write any questions I had in it as i take it with me.
