Days 3-7 or days 5-9 is there a difference??
I just finished my last dose of Provera yesterday and now I'm just waiting for AF before I can start my clomid. My doctor upped my dose, he thinks I didn't ovulate, and wants me to take 100mg on days 5-9 of my cyle. I'm kind of confused and of course in all the nervousness and excitement, we're seeing a new doctor, I forgot to ask why the difference in days?
When I took my 50mg, I took it on days 3-7...does it make a difference??

Based on what my DH (also my doc) tells me pregnancies are possible either way and there is no scientific proof that beginning day 3 is superior to day 5 but some think it is.
The reason for that is that after day 3 your brain shuts off FSH production and most often 1 follicle has already been selected. So starting on day 3 maintains FSH production while starting it on day 5 is jumpstarting an already stalled engine. However, he has seen pregnancies result from both and there may be a solid reason why your doc has moved you to day 5. I'd call the office and ask the nurse. Blessings, prayers and ![]() |

Hi,
I too had taken clomid starting from(CD 3-7) 50 mg but didnt Ovulate . So i had taken Provera and Dr increase my dosage to 100mg .Its also waste. Again increased to 150mg+metformin 1000mg. Got ovulated but didn't become pregnant. Dr suggested to continue the medicine from CD 5-9 .I didnt ovulate. Again he suggested to take from 3-7 its also waste. No ovulation. Just follow as your Dr suggest for CD 3-7 or CD 5-9 |
