First Time On Clomid-Questions

Hi everyone,

I had a miscarriage in June of 2011 after conceiving naturally for the first time. (not planned)

We waited a little bit to see if it would happen again, and it has not. (I have PCOS and normally have to use provera to start a period)

My dr. just prescribed Clomid 50mg. I have taken it on days 5-9 (today is day 9) I am scheduled to have an ultrasound done this Thurs which is day 11. Does that sound like proper timing? Are they going to do the ultrasound and tell me if we can go ahead and try?

Just looking for newbie info...lol

They will check to see if you have any follicles growing and then go from there. Best thing to do is have a list of questions for your doctor. Ask him what the next steps are! Good luck this month!

Yes that sounds like the right timing to me...that is when my RE does mine CD11 or CD12. I took my Clomid the first month of treatment CD5-9, and then these past two cycles it has been CD3-7. My follicles are bigger with the extra 2 days

Thank you ladies, glad to know I am on the right track. I'm nervous about getting pregnant again because of my m/c, but I know whatever is meant to happen will happen.

Had my ultrasound today...

So, the appointment today went well. She checked my left ovary first and said she saw a couple follicles but they were "not very excited". Then she checked the right and got very happy with what she saw. She showed me a large follicle on the screen and said it is READY. She said it was a great size and something about measuring 2.7 every way she did the measurements. (?) Anyways...she said have fun tonight, tomorrow, and Sat. lol

Another newbie

Hello - I started my first round of clomid last week (days 5-9). My husband and I have one child who just turned 18 mos. We had a miscarriage at 11 weeks this past July and then a chemical pregnancy in Oct and again last month (occurred after a week or so of BFPs. . .that got lighter then final day and then disappeared). My dr started me on clomid this cycle as originally planned before my positive pregnancy test. She was in favor of doing so though did admit that she had never done so before for someone who just had a positive test. I've done well on the meds so far, but today have had incredibly achy legs and back. Has anyone else had these symptoms? Also, have your symptoms been limited to only the days you've taken the medication? It's an emotional journey, for sure - thoughts with all of you. Thanks!

keeponstrongheart.....I didn't really experience the achy legs, but my back has been bothering me. (that started though recently, not while I was on the clomid..so not sure if it is related) Most of my other symptoms only happened the days I was actually taking clomid, the only one I have noticed since I stopped is still the emotional/crying for no reason part. Good luck with your first round and keep us posted.

My question now for everyone is, if I took Clomid day 5-9, had my ultrasound day 11 (she said I was good to go), and today is day 15, when should I take a pregnancy test to see if I am pregnant??

So does that mean you already had mature follicles by CD11? Do you know when you ovulated? Are you temping? Just curious since it sounds like you ovulate early. If you know when you ovulated, the earliest that you can see is usually 10dpo. Hope that helps! Good luck!

chiqawa99, thank you!

She did not use the word mature at my ultrasound on day 11, but she said I had a very large follicle on the right side that was very excited. lol She basically told me to go home that night and have some fun. We ended up trying that night and the following night. Unfortunately, my husband is now recovering from surgery, so we only got 2 nights in, but if it didn't happen this time, there is always next month to try right?

I am not temping right now. I guess I should be? With this being my first time using Clomid, I thought them doing the ultrasound was enough to tell me I was ovulating??

Hi Sweetieinva!! Sorry to hear that your husband is recovering after surgery..Just always remember that it takes only one egg and one sperm! Although if ovulation occurs egg can be in "good condition" up to 12-24 hours and sperm can survive in woman's body up to 3-6 days!!
If didn't happen this month sure you ve got the next month to try too!!!
My Dr. does u/s to check the size of follies, quantity of follies, lining, cyst/no cyst, and the general condition down there...last cycle I had 5 follies on RO (2 of them exciting sizes, "mature" ones, and 1 on LO - not so good, my witch AF arrived 8 days after trigger shot (should be at least 14), so Dr said it means I didn't ovulate!!!
There are few different ways to know if you ovulate or not: BBT, CM, OPK and other ovulation tests, can be blood work and I'm sure there are many others...
I wish you the best of luck in your TTC journey!!!

I understand that feeling. It took us 2 years to get prego and I lost the baby at 12 weeks . We are aloud to start trying now and I am so excited and SO nervous...not sure how I'm supposed to feel! Good luck!
