Hi! I'm supposed to start taking clomid in February, and I'm kind of excited about it. But I wanted to see how many ladies had had experiences with it. Thank you for your input!

How long had you been ttc before the doctor put you on clomid?: 12 cycles - but doc said 9 would have been ok.
Why were you perscribed clomid?: Increase quality & quantity of follicles.
How many rounds of clomid did you do?: Will be starting #4 when AF shows.
Were those rounds successful?: Not yet.
What was the worst thing about this medication?: Took my meds at night before bed so only side effect was waking up with hot flashes. Also causes lining to thin.
Would you ever take it again?: Sure but best to avoid too many cycles with it as it can cause ovarian cancer later in life.

I do ovulate regularly without clomid. Be careful though, clomid doesn't always work in ladies that already have trouble ovulating. So you may need a higher dose or different drug. I just wanted to give you a heads up just in case. Don't get discouraged! once the doc's get you ovulating they are going to do everything they can to optimize your chances of getting pregnant.

How long had you been ttc before the doctor put you on clomid?: Actively 1 year. Not trying/Not Preventing 5 months prior to actively trying.

Why were you perscribed clomid?: I have PCOS and wasn't ovulating on my own.

How many rounds of clomid did you do?: I'm currently on my 4th round. 50mg - 100mg - 150mg - 150mg w/ Menopur injects

Were those rounds successful?: I had a chemical pregnancy my last round. First two rounds, I didn't ovulate.

What was the worst thing about this medication?: My only s/e has been dry CM. We've tried Preseed to help, but I didn't like it. We're doing IUI this month so it bypasses CM issues.

Would you ever take it again?: I will take it as long as it continues to work, and my RE will allow it.

How many rounds of clomid did you do?: 2 for the first pregnancy, 1 with the second pregnancy and we are on round 3 for this one
Were those rounds successful?: the first 2 yes
What was the worst thing about this medication?: Ovulation cramping
Would you ever take it again?: for sure, trying for #3

That is soooo good to here, Wantmorebabies2012!! Not ovulating on my own is my problem too. Gets frustrating. Good luck to you!!!

How long had you been ttc before the doctor put you on clomid?: Exactly 1 year beforing seeing the RE then had to wait a month for all the work ups to be done.
Why were you perscribed clomid?: To help with quality and quantity of eggs (I did ovulate on my own... it was an additional boost since i had secondary unexplained infertility)
How many rounds of clomid did you do?: A total of 2
Were those rounds successful?: Round 2 was successful and we are now expecting one little bean in September
What was the worst thing about this medication?: I took mine at night so the side effects were small. I had more side effects from my trigger shot
Would you ever take it again?: If it came down to it yes, but not for too many cycles because research has shown that your chances of ovarian cancer increase

How long had you been ttc before the doctor put you on clomid?: We tried on our own for about 10 months before I went to my OB. It took a couple months after seeing him before I could start clomid since I had to wait for a period.
Why were you perscribed clomid?: I have PCOS and do not ovulate on my own.
How many rounds of clomid did you do?: I'm currently on round #5.
Were those rounds successful?: Hoping this round is...I'll tell you in another week!
What was the worst thing about this medication?: I've been really emotional but that can be from the whole experience or just the fact that I actually have hormones working now! The other thing would be the ovulation pains or follicles that are too big and I can feel them before and when they deflate.
Would you ever take it again?: I will do anything to get preg!

How long had you been ttc before the doctor put you on clomid?: Tried on our own since Jan 2010. Started with OB summer of 2010 taking Metformin to see if it would help. Then summer 2011 had xray to check tubes and found one blocked. OB sent me to specialist. Late summer/Fall went to specialist.
Why were you perscribed clomid?: I have PCOS and don't ovulate on my own.
How many rounds of clomid did you do?: We are on our 3rd.
Were those rounds successful?: Have ovulated but no BFP yet.
What was the worst thing about this medication?: For me the first month was hell with mood, cramps etc. But I think it was just a overload of hormones that I normally didn't have.
Would you ever take it again?: I have one more refill left on my prescription. If it doesn't work I don't know if we will increase it or try something else. But yes I'd probably still take clomid.

Why were you perscribed clomid?:PCOS/Not ovulating on my own
How many rounds of clomid did you do?:I've done two so far
Were those rounds successful?:I ovulated the second round, still in my TWW to see if it'll be successful in getting me
What was the worst thing about this medication?:I was sooo emotional. Things that wouldn't normally bother me either had me in tears or ready to fight!
Would you ever take it again?:Yes. If this round ends in a I'm willing to try it a couple more tries.

Being emotional is probably my greatest worry I'd say. I'm so not an emotional person and am very insecure about showing that side of me. But if it results in a H&H 9 months and a child then I am more than willing. I have already warned Dh. Lol!
