New to forum with a question

Hello!
I found your forum though google searches. I am glad I did! It looks like a great place.

I have a question about when to ovulate on Clomid.
This is my first cycle with 50mg Clomid. I took the pills on CD 3-7 and was told by my dr that I would ovulate around CD 14.
Some people on forums tell me that I should ovulate 5-9 days after the last pills and other people tell me up to 12 days after the last pill.
So I am wondering, how many days after the last pill is the norm?
I am on CD 16 now and have not gotten a positive OPK.. it has been getting a little darker each day though. It is about 50% in color today.
I was looking though posts here on this forum and some people say they don't ovulate till around CD 20.. Would this be the norm for me? From the time I stated charting I have never ovulated. I also was told on another forum that woman on Clomid sometimes never get a positive OPK, but do in fact ovulate.. is this true?
Do you think I still have a chance of ovulating this cycle?

Thanks!

When I was only on clomid I ovulated on day 20 or so. I took follistim to get my to ovulate closer to day 14. It also matters how long your cycles are because mine were still 28 days so I couldn't get pregnant. If your cycles are longer than it's not as big as a problem.

Hello! And ! I am a 38 day cycler! I take Clomid 50mg on days 5-9 and O on cd 21 or so. Never had a + opk...you luteal phase needs to be at least 12 days long to keep a pregnancy...so if you ovulate on cd 21 and have a 38 or 39 day cycle you are probably fine. Good luck to you and to us all!

I think it is different for each person, just keep using the OPK and get bloodwork done to check your progesterone level

Same issues...thanks for the help

Hi! I am new to this site (my husband and I found it through google also). We have been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year now and I am scheduled to start Clomid on day 3 of my next period. My husbands sperm counts are fine and there is no other explanation for our trouble. We are really excited to find this site because its been very helpful and answered many of our questions without us even having to ask them.

Candice! LittleBitCrazy!

I took clomid on CD 5-9 and I always ovulated on CD15 or CD16. My cycles have always been around 28-29 days, but on clomid sometimes they were a little longer (possible chemical pregnancy?) and sometimes they were shorter. Keep testing until you see a + OPK. I did always see one. Better yet, I didn't go to an RE until I had already done 7 unmonitored clomid cycles with my Ob/gyn (1 cycle pg ended in m/c). My last clomid cycle (RE upped it from 50mg to 100mg) they monitored my follicules at CD2 and again CD12 (weren't ready) and CD14 (ready). If this first cycle doesn't work for you, I would recommend going to an RE and have monitoring done. You can be monitored without doing an IUI. Actually, this month I am going unmedicated, no IUI, but will go in on CD14 for a follie check, and if ready, then trigger (HCG) and timed BD!

Good luck. Oh, yeah. Don't waste too many cycles on clomid unmonitored because there is a limit to how many cycles you can be on it (after a certain amount, cancer risks increase).

Good luck to both of you!!!

so glad you found us!!! theres alot of great ladies on this site!!!!...I agree, keep testing until you see a + opk . because with clomid you can be a little later ovulating. and please make sure that your dr. is monitoring you, that your going to get your progestrone draw, every month 21 days after your period has started. I went 2 cycles not being monitored , which was a misunderstandig between the nurse and me, but dr. said not to stay on clomid too many cycles. good luck to you. keep us posted on your progress on clomid!!!
