That stinks. I work for a family owned company (Christians) but they don't have insurance coverage for infertility treatments of any kind. Mainly because they are a very small company and I'm the youngest person here by like 20 years so it wasn't an extra expensive they needed to take on. I know that some Catholics have a different stand on infertility and the means by which many of us have to use in order to conceive. However, it's your choice. If you aren't satisfied try writing a letter to the company, to your church, to someone to try and find financial support for this process.

That's too bad. I teach at a Catholic school and I have really good insurance that covered birth control pills and everything.

That is just not right, that is so unfair. Actually I'm a nurse in a large hospital and if I would of taken their insurance, none of our IVF treatments and procedures would be covered also. Which is so weird to me but what can you do. I hope you can figure out a way.

Wow. I never really thought about it, but I can see what they mean. Catholics don't believe in any kind of birth control, and they believe that the minute conseption happens there is life. If there is conception in a dish. There is a life. I don't see how they could justify not paying for it if you signed to donate all of the embryo's that you don't have to use. At least then all of the babies would be born, or given a chance per say.
It's crazy. I look at this ticker....CONGRATULATIONS Gertzy!! I realize how long it's been that DH and I have been TTC. I'm trying to figure out if Blue Cross covers infertility treatments. We've been trying for almost three years, so I'm pretty sure we're going to have to do IVF. The reason I replied to this post. I would donate all that weren't implanted. I know a lot of people have a hard time with that. Knowing that your kids are running around somewhere, but then I think about my journey, and it makes me feel better to know that when we finally do get the money together to do the IVF that we would be able to give someone a priceless gift that they might not have otherwise been able to have. It's interesting how the religious views come into play. I personally don't think that they should butt into your personal medical business just because they are run by a church. Just my opinion.
