Duggars await baby #19

Is it silly of me to be upset by the announcement that Michelle Duggar is pregnant with her 19th child and I can't seem to get pregnant with my 1st? I admit I love watching the Duggar family on TLC, but seeing her eldest son and his new wife get pregnant within months and now this...I am thinking I am done watching the Duggars for awhile.

I feel like they need to stop already!! They are ruining the balance of the universe! I'm joking of course . . . I'm not really UPSET about the news, more than that, I think they are out of their freakin minds. That poor woman is going to be in really bad shape one of these days after what her body has been through. And those poor kids!! No matter how good of a parent you are, you cannot effectively parent so many children and give them all the amount of attention they need. Those kids are going to be screwed up!! I work in a school and we strive to even keep our CLASS SIZES below 15 because we know it's more effective!!!

I was thinking my goodness, how the heck does she have time to have sex, I mean I have a hard time with one in the house, I can only imagine having 18 (really 17 in the house) other children. I would think at some point she would just say "really Jim Bob get that thing away from me"!!

Personally...I think it sucks!!! I think these people are selfish and NUTS!!! I do not care they can afford thier kids because they make thier older kids care for thier younger kids and having been made to that myself I think that is unfair to the older kids. They did not choose to have 17-18 other siblings to watch after, and quite frankly those younger kids do not belong to the older ones. If the parents can't handle watching thier own kids they should stop having them.

My DD is 10, T is 2, and we have One on the way and I would NEVER think to have my DD watch my other kids just cause she is older. She deserves to have a life and will have typical chores like now but not raising my kids. I can ask her and pay her to babysit once in a while (not now of course) but to appoint one of my older kids to now be in charge of a younger one just cause I like to pop them out is selfish and wrong.

I was thinking the same thing. By now she must know EXACTLY when she ovulates, so why not fake a headache once in a while.

well, i think its their choice, their beliefs ... the fact is, they have no debt, (even prior to the show) they do not live off the system, they have no financial help so i say why not... they obvioulsy have a loving family, from what i see on tv, they are very polite and respectful children and if its meant for them to have all these children then its meant to be... NOW i wouldnt feel this way if they were living in horrible conditions, abusive family, no food/kids were not nourished but this is not the case with the Duggars... im happy for them... do i wish i had this many kids, NO, but in a sense im saddened that it is so easy for her to get pregnant and its not so easy for some of us... i feel that my infertility path was meant for me to be this way, it brought me and my husband so much closer.. it was very stressful on our marriage which i feel was a true test on us, and if we survived the entire rollercoaster of our 4 yr journey of infertility, we can survive anything.. now we have twins.. which is a different kind of stress, but wouldnt have it any other way.. hey, i asked, wanted, and prayed for this and we finally got it... i wouldnt wish our road on anyone so if Michelle and Jim Bob has an easier time at what we all want... than i need to be happy for them.

I know that this will be an unpopular opinion -- but I can't stand these people. I am so sick of hearing about how "wholesome" they are. I think it is irresponsible to have so many children. Maybe they aren't actually abused in the common understanding of the word, but they definitely are not getting the one on one attention from their parents that they need and deserve.

Also, I am so not OK with raising girls to believe that all they can contribute to the world is children. I am having a boy, but no matter what gender this baby was, he/she would be raised to know that men and women are equal.

Lastly, the Duggars actually ARE a drag on the system. Where I work, it costs the exact same amount for insurance if I have one child as it would if I have 19 children. So... that means that all of my co-workers would be helping to pay my premiums if I decided to (OK, if that were even possible) pop out all of those kids.

Again, I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but this actually makes me extremely angry! Even if I weren't infertile this would infuriate me!

Amen AnnRN!!

And it sounds like their oldest Josh, who just had his first, has decided to do the exact same thing (as many kids as biologically possible within one lifetime). I think his wife is like 20 so that could be like 30 kids especially with their family history of twins. Absolutely nuts.

busybee- if you are talking about Josh's side's history of twins, it has no bearing. Fraternal twins on the maternal side are the only hereditory twins. Identicals are a roll of the dice, they can happen to anyone but if a woman has twins on her maternal side, then twins are more likely to happen. Paternal side has no bearing on wether or not a woman concieves twins.
